rodan + fields unblemish line // nyx soft matte lip cream in twerp // sally hansen airbrush legs // dolce vita for target zoey chunky lace up heels // nyx hd finishing powder // ban.do large agenda

IT’S BEEN TOO LONG, MY PEOPLE. To make a long story short: I moved back to LSU (can I get a heck yeah?!), started recruitment, but a massive flood hit us hard so recruitment has gotten moved back a week… I’m off silence (technically) as of right now so here’s a lil post for y’all!

As of late, I’ve been experimenting around with acne products + Catherine (my roomie) introduced me to this line, Rodan + fields. So far, I’m enjoying the multi-step routine a lot! Topical products normally take at least 4 weeks start seeing results, so I’m planning to use this Unblemish line while I wait to start my first round of Accutane ever (eeeeek)!

NYX has been a home run for me recently with all their products, especially the HD finishing powder, which I’ve been using to bake my under eye concealer (it ROCKS), and the Soft matte lip cream (beautiful matte finish and great staying power).

Being back at school, I have to say I’ve gotten lazy with my regular self tanning routine… My bad lol. If I’m going out and want my legs to look good, I’ll use this Sally hansen leg makeup. It adds some color to my legs as well as evening them out and making them look amazing!

If y’all have been following me for the past few months, you would know I’ve been HEAD OVER HEELS for any lace up shoe by Dolce Vita. Visiting my local target a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a Dolce Vita for target line. While hyper ventilating, I snagged a pair of these lace up chunky heeled shoes. Paired with jeans or even a simple romper/dress they add so much interest and contrast (since they’re black). I haven’t quite broken them in yet, but I’m sure once I have they will be the perfect going out shoes!

In reference to my previous agenda post, I decided to order this ban.do agenda! The size is perfect and I am so pleased with all it’s quirky + cute sayings in the inside. I would recommend!

Do y’all have anything that’s been on your radar lately you want to share? Leave me a comment below!

Life Lately | July Edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on 07/27/2016

HAAPPPPY *ALMOST* AUGUST FRIENDS.

This month can be easily summed up because it seems I have done nothing eventful but a little weekend trip to Houston, TX. The other 24 days of July have been spent mentally preparing myself for back to school (aka recruitment). August will be here before I know it, and I am jumping for joy knowing shortly I’ll be back in my favorite place (Baton Rouge) with my favorite people!

img_1507

Can I start a petition to bring more Whattaburger locations to Louisiana? The second the wheels of the car hit the Texas state line, I quickly searched for the nearest Whattaburger to satisfy my craving. The bags are so cute I ended up snapping a few pics of it before I devoured my food #dontmesswithtexasyall

My gracious host for the weekend was none other than my freshman roomie, Olive. Words cannot describe how thankful I am that the two of us have gotten along so well (and survived freshman year). We both are rocking our own handmade necklaces!

Sooo another thing that needs to come to Louisiana… Sprinkles cupcakes. I’m telling y’all, you’ve never had a cupcake like this before. Salted caramel is always a favorite flavor of mine (especially in macaroons) and this cupcake did not disappoint.

Not sure how well y’all can see in this picture, but I made some subtle changes to my hair this month! After longing for a change but not wanting to give up much length, I stumbled upon the idea of balayage. My hairdresser ended up having to use two appointments to get my hair to this lightness, but I have to say I love how natural it looks. PS: my romper is from Tobi + I wrote a post on it here.

Obsessed with this off the shoulder Piko top in navy. The material is so soft + stretchy and the shirt can literally go with anything. I chose to pair it with my favorite NYX lip color as of right now, the Soft matte lip cream in Antwerp.

Yes, another picture of food. Do I have a problem? Maybe. But seriously y’all, this apple cinnamon crepe was over the top amazing. Being a big breakfast eater, I am always down for some crepes.

Not that I’m not makeup crazy any other month, but in July I ended up going berserk trying a whole bunch of new products. These pictured are my necessitates for the summer time. In case  y’all haven’t been able to check out the post, I’ll link it here.

I snagged this little navy number from American Apparel for recruitment. The silhouette is a mix between a little bit of A-line and a little bit of a shift. Pops of pink +white completed the look. For recruitment, I’ll pair it with some nude wedges for a really classic polished vibe.

All my insta loves have already seen this picture, so if you don’t follow me on Instagram go ahead and give me a follow @lgipblog! Anyhow, the Sam Edelman heels were a diamond in the rough. I scored them for $40! Fall is just around the corner, and they would look fantastic with some flare jeans and a sweater!

July had it’s moments, but the best day of this month was my one year bloggiversary. Spending the day taking fun pictures with my “1” balloon (and losing it mid photoshooot) was really the icing on the cake.

Officially 16 days until I get to live in this beauty with my besties! August 6th come sooner! PS: would y’all like to see a college packing list or a room tour?

When it’s your bestie’s birthday, you have to go big or go home! I ended up setting up a cutie little photobooth complete with a champagne balloon and some tassels over a white back drop. The pictures turned out hella cute! We went out to dinner + I chose to wear my white super flare jeans and a statement off the shoulder top.

Here’s to July! You’ll be missed…

4 planners to help curb your disorganization

Posted in Uncategorized

plan it out!

ban.do // erin condren // whitney english // may designs

Well, I was expecting to post on Wednesday as I normally do but I ended up falling asleep at 6pm and sleeping through the night (whoops). My sleep schedule is extremely chaotic at the moment, y’all. In a fit of  trying to mentally prepare myself for the upcoming school year, I have been reading up on planners of every type. For the past four years, I have used the Lilly Pulitzer Planner and I have really loved it but I’m looking for something different this school year (maybe I’m getting more sophisticated or something…? Lol).

I’ve narrowed down my choices to these four and I have to say I am having a super hard time deciding. The May Designs Agenda is bound, which I love the idea of because my spirals always seem to fall apart mid year. It is a smaller size than the rest though, and I am worried I won’t able to fit it all, but it would be great to throw in my bag and take on the go. The ban.do agenda is the front runner in my mind right now. It is business on the front and a real party on the inside. One of my fave features of this agenda is that it does not have lines under each day in the week view. I’m sure y’all have heard of the Erin Condren Life Planner™ at some point or another. It’s a customizable planner with the option of vertical or horizontal week layout (which I love) as well as the option to design your own cover that can be interchangeable. It is the most expensive out of the bunch, but it sure does a lot! Lastly, the Whitney English Day Designer™ is standing out for me because it’s set up on the week view by time. Being a full-time college student, treasurer of my sorority, working a part-time job and blogging — I’m thinking a timed schedule might just be what I need!

Have y’all been able to decide on one planner out of the millions for this school year? Pretty please leave me a comment helping me to decide which I should get for this year!

Life Lately | June edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on 06/26/2016

Looking back at my mumble jumble of photos from June, I’ll go ahead an conclude it was a very random and spastic month full of work, blogging, eating, and a few day trips to Baton Rouge and NOLA. How the heck is it almost July?! That means I’m one month closer to being back in my favorite place, Baton Rouge, (and my new home on the lake whee) but also it means one month left being home and seeing friends and family I don’t get to see too often during school. Ugh!! Such conflicting feelings about summer surround me. Well, I’ll get onto babbling about my June… here we goooooo!

IMG_1074A day trip to NOLA to see my bestie was just what I needed to get this month started off on the right foot! Peep our Ray Bans (classic look from both of us). Get mine here and Zach’s here.

IMG_0998Summer time reading is one of my favorites. I’m still delving into the Cuckoo’s Calling, but hoping I can finish soon because I’ve got quite the list piling up!

IMG_1309I think we went overboard with the pineapple pictures during our time at the beach… Oh well.

IMG_8000My diva bestie from NYC came to visit for a few days this month!! We celebrated with watermelon spritzers + cake!! Thankful that our friendship can withstand 1,150 miles.

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetMy dad’s day OOTD consisted of my favorite denim, a simple white top, and my OTBT Bushnells (Update: still obsessed. Don’t plan on giving it up anytime soon).

IMG_8013Call me DIY queen. Summertime is my DIY season since I have more spare time with no school. I ran to Hobby Lobby and snagged all of this for six dollars (go me with my coupons!!). Three necklaces later, and I’m wanting to go back for more.

IMG_1268My future home is coming along quite nicely, don’t ya think? August cannot come soon enough! (Can’t you tell how excited I am to live in this babe with all of my best friends/sisters!) #rushaphi

IMG_1202Walked into Ulta for one thing, and walked out with four…. Oops. I’ve heard only rave reviews about the NYX soft matte lip creams, and Maybelline instant age rewind concealer, so I’m super exited to try!

IMG_1275Probably the best fifty three dollars I have spent this month. This lens is amazing y’all. It rivals the Cannon 55 mm lens (did I mention it’s half the price?!!). I’ll be using this bad boy from now on in my blog pics so stay tuned to see it in action!

IMG_8106Maddie meet LGIP readers, LGIP readers meet Maddie. She’s been with me throughout this whole process and I am so elated to announce that she will be partnering with me to grow my social media. We’ve already taken an online class and plan to take some more to expand our knowledge on the subject. I cannot wait for y’all to see her amazing work!! (PS: this is an upcoming OOTD post… My dress is from Tobi!)

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetForever wishing I could take blog pictures 24/7. When an off day rolls around, you can one hundred percent catch me with my camera in hand.

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetAnd last but not least… my most exciting endeavor for the month of June… an official Louisiana Girl in Pearls instagram. I’ve been reluctant to branch out from my personal instagram just because I would have to start over with all of my followers, but so far the support has been amazing. If you get the chance go ahead and check me out here.

Let me know what y’all have been up to this month!

Hey hey friends! Dressing up while at the beach is one of my favorite things to do (not sure what it is.. but taking a nice shower and putting on a beach outfit to go with my new tan makes me happy happy). Last week I was in Orange Beach, AL on a  little girls trip so we ended up going to dinner a few times during the course of the week.

Palazzo pants are a summer staple in my closet, and I think they are so easy to dress up or dress down. Since we were headed to a nicer restaurant, I paired these printed palazzos with a plain tank (tied up — aka one of my fave ways to style this Old Navy tank), a long pearl necklace (double wrapped as usual), and my latest obsession — OTBT Bushnell wedges.

What do y’all wear when you go to dinner at the beach? Give me some ideas for my next beach trip in the comments below!

My top 10 beach essentials | LGIP picks

Posted in Beauty, Fashion
on 06/15/2016

Give me a few days at the beach and I’ll be in absolute heaven. Of course there is the part of packing up all of my stuff to go there, unpacking, and then packing it all up again that does stress me out… After quite a few beach trips, I’ve got my packing list down pat! I thought I would share this with y’all tonight and hopefully it’ll be helpful!

beach-packing-essentials-1-lgip

covergirl mascara // laura mercier tinted moisturizer // s’well bottle // ray ban aviators // earbuds // ban.do portable charger // h&m scallop bottom // h&m mesh top // towel // banana boat dry oil // neutrogena dry-touch

I always make sure to pack tons of tanning oil and sunscreen for my face (don’t want those premature wrinkles) in addition to a bunch of fab suits and some shades (Ray Bans of course!!). If you plan to jam to some music while out on the beach, pack a portable charger too so you can power up!! If my skin is breaking out, I’ll throw on some Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and some waterproof mascara (I’ve always loved CG lash blast).

If ya wanna listen to some of my favorite summer tunes, head to my playlist here.

Here’s a few pictures from my trip… and a sneak peek of an upcoming OOTD :-)

5 novels you should read this summer feat. Warby Parker glasses

Posted in Lifestyle
on 06/01/2016

When summer rolls around, I always leap towards the nearest bookstore to pick up a read for the summer. I immensely enjoy reading but I NEVER have any time during the school year to read for leisure (shout out to my boring textbooks). This summer I decided to make myself a little summer reads list, so here it is!

summer-reads-wp-1-lgip

// The Vacationers by Emma Straub//

I started this book last summer, and picked it up a few times this school year hoping to finish it but to no avail. I finally was able to sit down and read it when I got home from school! Although the plot is pretty melancholy, I really enjoyed this one because each character has such a different way of thinking. The blurb on the back of the book reads that “this is a story of the sides of ourselves that we chose to show and those we try to conceal, of the ways we tear each other down and build each other up again, and the bonds that ultimately hold us together.” The way all of the characters develop throughout the course of the vacation was fun to follow! A great beach read.

// Little Bee by Chris Cleave //

After reading many mixed reviews about this one, I’m curious to see where I fall on the spectrum. The jacket claims “it is a truly special story.. Once you have read it, you’ll want to tell your friends about it. When you do, please don’t tell them what happens. The magic is in how the story unfolds.” It is the story of “two women’s tenuous friendship that blooms between two disparate strangers—one an illegal Nigerian refugee, the other a recent widow from suburban London.” I’ll let y’all know how I feel about this one!

// The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith//

I’m way late to this party! J.K. Rowling published another series under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, and it’s gotten a lot of mixed reviews just like “Little Bee.” I have actually started this one and I’m still in the stasis part of it, so no action has really happened. I tried to start reading Harry Potter but could never get into it so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy this one. Mystery novels are some of my all time favorites! “The Cuckoo’s Calling” is the first in the Cormoran Strike trilogy that follows a “barely scraping by… private investigator” who in the start of the first novel receives a case that “…plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.”

// Laura Lamont’s Life in Pictures by Emma Straub //

Written by the same author as “The Vacationers,” Emma Straub has done it again. Glitz and glam can always capture my attention and this book does not seem to be lacking it at all. “Elsa marries and flees to Los Angeles… [and is] discovered by Irving Green, one of the most powerful executives in Hollywood, who refashions her as a serious, exotic brunette and renames her Laura Lamont. Laura experiences all the glamour and extravagance of the heady pinnacle of stardom in the studio-system era, but ultimately her story is a timeless one of a woman trying to balance career, family, and personal happiness, all while remaining true to herself.” The theme of staying true to oneself is something every woman can relate to. I cannot wait to pick this one up and jump back in time to the 1920s!

// The Last Tycoon by Scott F. Fitzgerald //

We all know Scott F. Fitzgerald for his classic, “The Great Gatsby.” I’ve read it and loved it, like most. His style of writing left me wanting more. I’ve done some research on some of his other novels and this one is supposedly one of his best. Set in jazz age, it tells “details [of] the film industry in Hollywood, initially from the viewpoint of a Studio Executive’s daughter, Cecilia Brady, then later following her father’s rival, Monroe Stahl.” It is very similar to the Great Gatsby in which there is a ‘middleman narrator’ who is “enamored with the central character.” The book was left unfinished by Scott F. Fitzgerald’s sudden death. If this novel is anything like the “Great Gatsby” I am positive I will thoroughly enjoy it!

Honorable mentions (including previous books I’ve read):

The Heiresses by Sara Shepard (Obsessed with PLL? Give this one a read!)

Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella (Great plane book!)

Something Borrowed, Something Blue both by Emily Giffin (Couldn’t put it down!)

Of course you’ll need some reading glasses so you don’t strain your eyes doing all of this reading! I’m teaming up with Warby Parker for this post to bring y’all some of my favorite frames for the summer! The Streeter is the pair I’m sporting in the picture and I’m obsessed with the statement they make! Warby Parker’s summer 2016 collection is so stunning and trendy. They really do have the perfect pair of glasses for anyone. Here’s a few pairs I’m crushing on (I threw some sunnies in there, I couldn’t resist)…

Do y’all have any summer reads planned?

Life Lately | May edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on 05/30/2016

June is just around the corner and I can’t wait! May was awfully fun and actually a bit sad because I had to leave my fave place Baton Rouge for the summer. Now I’m home and working up a storm! I’ve just been getting back into the swing of things working 30-35ish hours a week (gotta make that money so I can save that money)! Let’s recap my month of May…

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

If y’all read my Freshman year recap you know I had a strong feelings towards my freshman dorm (RIP Joan, I’ll love ya forever) and my roomie, Olive. We really did have the most amazing freshman year and I could not be more thankful!

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

My Alpha Phi chapter is moving into a new home next year, so I had to say my goodbyes to our temporary home. What an amazing year it was! I’ll never forget all the memories created in this house — aka pomping for 62.5 hours, eating alot of cereal, and printing a buttload of checks (lol).

img_0471

I kicked off the summer right with the 1975 concert in NOLA. They are one of my favorite bands and I was so delighted to be able to see them live with some pals. The lighting designer for their tour did a stellar job (as you can see) and every single song had different lighting to go along with it!

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Like I mentioned in my Grad gifts under 40 post, graduation season brings crawfish boils galore! My cousin graduated from LSU and had a crawfish boil to celebrate! The whole fam had a great time, even my siblings, who I had to force to take a picture with me :-)

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

To-do lists are my thing no matter the time of year. During the summer, I work almost everyday and alot of my free time is devoted to Alpha Phi so I have to keep myself organized. This adorable to-do list is a savior.

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

My everyday makeup has been pretty simple this month. I’ve been sticking to the basics with my tried and true products. Here’s a sneak peek of what I use. Would y’all like to see an everyday makeup post?

Officially obsessed with this fun effect for my Instagram pics. It’s an app called YouDoodle and you can draw on your pictures. This editing took me a solid 45 minutes, but it turned out so stinking cute I thought it was worth it. This picture is from my post on 2 ways to style summer sneakers. PS: get you some Steve Madden slip ons — they are super comfy!

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Another look into my 2 ways to style sneakers post. I would have never dared to mix patterns like this a year ago, but my style has evolved so much! This dress and tied shirt combo was perfect for running errands around town because it was so breathable and comfy, but at the same time it looked really put to together!

The Wedding Managers coming at ya! RGW (one of my close friends from high school) and I had the opportunity to help run our former theatre teacher’s wedding reception! We helped to set up the space and just generally make sure everything ran smoothly while having fun of course! Here’s a sweet lil pic of us channeling our in theatre kids (we miss it)!

img_0846-1

Another pic I doodled on! The gals and I took a day trip to NOLA last week and ended up taking some super cute pictures on the streets! We went to the Verti Marte (amazing food) and ther Odgen Museum of Art to try and find the “Before I die…” wall but it unfortunately had been taken down three days before (just our luck)!!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

NOLA adventure again! I was really digging  the architecture of this hotel (all white is one of my loves for interior/exterior design). The palms reminded me a bit of LA. Not sure why I included this in here, but hey why not!

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

We (Catherine, me, and our Mamas) went to dinner the other night because my Catherine is leaving me for two months to go work in upstate NY /-: I’ll miss our dumb adventures this summer but I can’t wait to room with this babe in the fall! A Phi house here we come!

img_0949-1

My Sunday off was well appreciated this week! Mama and I relaxed by the pool and enjoyed our reads! I’m currently into “The Cuckoo’s Calling” by Robert Galbraith (I know I’m about two years late to read this book written by J.K. Rowling under the pseudonym but better late than never right?). The weather was great and I always love getting to lay out!

What have y’all been up to this month on May? Give me some updates in the comments!
