Wednesday blues | How to add more Show me your MuMu to your closet

Posted in Fashion

Hey my people. I’m coming to ya today to share this adorable little blue and white look. Funny story: while I was trying to shoot this, I was dripping in sweat (TMI?). Gotta love that Louisiana heat.

tunic | jeans (under $40) | tkees | crossbody | ray ban aviators

This summer I’ve definitely become a Show me your MuMu addict. Good thing I have two roommates who share that obsession with me and let me borrow their clothes (lol). I’ve got some Benji tees that are currently en route to me (so excited to style them). I digress though. While I like the printed pieces, I find that their solid ones are more versatile (and less memorable aka you can get away with them more haha). This tunic top is so great with jeans — white for summer and medium wash for winter. The flowy sleeves are so fun and I love the cut of the v-neck. This blue color is to die for!

I am always all about the white jeans and this pair I love because of all their distressing. They’re super comfy and under $40! Y’all know I love me some Old Navy jeans. I’ll link my favorite medium wash pair here (both under $40).

My shoes… oh my gosh my shoes. They are seriously my favorite shoes for the summer! So stinking comfy and they look good with everrryyything. The gold adds a nice metallic pop to the outfit too!

How to score Mumu without breaking the bank

Along with my recent obession, I have learned to shop THE SALES. It’s amazing how many smaller boutiques and retailers have sales on MuMu. Fall merchandise is about to start rollin in so summer items are going on sale (including MuMu)! In addition to shopping boutiques, I check MuMu’s sale section pretty frequently and there’s normally some great stuff in there. If all else fails, you can get a Unidays discount for MuMu (10% off) for your full priced items! Ebay and Poshmark can be good too (ya might just have to do some searching) for gently used MuMu.

Things I’ve bought recently | Edition 2

Posted in Fashion
on 06/14/2017

Hey pals! I’m back this week with a shopping round-up. I’ve been on a real shopping kick this month. Ooops. So I thought I would go through my most recent purchases. Let’s get into it…

things-i've-bought-3-lgip

blush set

I picked up this blush set at the beginning of the month for my cousin’s engagement party. I’ve been on a set kick this spring/summer. I just love the versatility of them — it’s like you get three outfits for the price of one (heck yeah)! The set is so cute together but to wear as separates I would probs do the shorts with a white tank and the top with jeans.
I would recommend sizing up in the shorts (they’re a little short). But the top ran true to size.

marc fisher “randall”

I talked about these babies in my last post a little bit. Since then I’ve worn them to work (twice) which is a huge deal for me considering I’m on my feet for 8 hours. They were surprisingly comfy. I know the hefty price tag is a huuuuge hurdle to jump over, but take it from a college gal, finding a wedge that’s cute AND comfortable… priceless.

things-i've-bought-4-lgip

blue layered tassel earrings

It’s no surprise I am a super fan for statement earrings. When one of my favorite bloggers posted about these I ordered them right away lol :-) The blue is really cute with white tops and I think I’ll get a lot of use out of these babies considering my wardrobe is literally all neutral. I’m linking some other options I love below.

things-i've-bought-5-lgip

boohoo shorts

If y’all don’t remember from my Life Lately May post, I literally have one pair of jean shorts to my name. So I thought it was prob time to pick up another pair. I grabbed these from boohoo for $15 (crazy right).
The sizing was super weird and I actually had to send my first pair back to get another size. I ended up with a size 8 and I’m normally a size 2. They’re tight around my legs and honestly hard to get on but sending them back again just wasn’t worth it. Hoping I can break them in and make them more comfy?

things-i've-bought-6-lgip

j slides sneakers

These just came in the mail today so wheee! I’ve been so in love with these sneakers since I saw someone wear them last fall. I found them on sale at Nordstrom during their 40% sale and I didn’t buy them then because I literally had $70 to my name. Turns out they marked them down further (after I got paid lol) to $69 so I grabbed the black!
The size 8 was sold out, so I got an 8.5. I’m normally between sizes (but mostly 8).

things-i've-bought-1-lgip

quay sunglasses

Branching out from my usual Ray Ban aviators was so hard for me (I’m a creature of habit). I picked up these QUAY sunnies just to have a cheaper, fun pair for football season (I lost a pair of Ray Bans last year RIP). The blue mirror is super fun and I love how big they are. Hopefully I’ll be able to convince myself to wear them more? Lol.
things-i've-bought-2-lgip

gold tkees

I am a self-proclaimed TKEE-a-haulic. These are the shoes I wear to work everyday because they are so dang comfy. I talk about them all the time because I just can’t get over it. The color options are endless. I’m already two pairs in, and I’ve got my eye on a gloss pair for my next purchase.
Have y’all bought anything recently? Let me know in the comments!

White on denim

Posted in Fashion
on 06/07/2017

Let’s talk simplicity. Although I *feel* (keyword: feel) like I’ve been getting more daring with my fashion choices, in all honestly I think all I’ve done is wear some overalls, neck scarves, and fun earrings. So yeah, I do have somewhat of a safe style, but ya know what, there’s nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day there is nothing I love more than jeans and a t-shirt.

Essentially the point of that entire blurb was to say this outfit is super simple, but it’s also a little fun with the pops of color I added (thank you for accessories). White on denim is one of my favorite combos year round, but I especially love it for the summer.

Another off the shoulder top I know… Lol. This one goes great with a skirt or even denim shorts. The skirt I’m wearing is on sale right now (wahoo)! It’ll definitely come in handy this fall during football season. If you keep up with me on social media, you would know I am head over heels for statement earrings. These mini tassels are from BaubleBar and they’re so fun to throw on with a simple outfit like this one. I have not worn these green mirrored Ray Bans in forever so I decided to add them to the mix too (more fun colors to this otherwise simple outfit).

Ooooh, those shoes.

Omg, I know right?! They were a huuugge splurge for me, but I finally bit the bullet after eyeing them for two weeks straight (a little obsessive, no?). They’re Marc Fisher, so the quality and comfort is there. This season’s must have shoe has been the “Adalyn” and I love the look of that wedge, but I felt like the “Randall” was more my style. They’re a great wedge to wear everyday with anything from dresses to jean shorts. I’d say they run pretty true to size and are well worth the hefty price tag. There’s a bunch of different colors to choose from (I love the blue) so I’ll link them for y’all below.

Do y’all find yourself playing it safe with your outfits? Lemme know your struggle below. Until next time!!

Striped right | How to style an off the shoulder top + what’s in my bag

HAPPY SUMMER YOU GUYS.

I’m coming at you live from Baton Rouge (where I am staying this summer). Can I get a heck yeah?!! Lots and lots of new stuff is comin at ya this summer since I’ve got some more time on my hands!

Let’s get into this week’s post. Featuring this little striped number (I am obsessed with off the shoulder tops right now).

striped-right-lgip-1 striped-right-lgip-10 striped-right-lgip-9 striped-right-lgip-8 striped-right-lgip-7 striped-right-lgip-6 striped-right-lgip-5 striped-right-lgip-4 striped-right-lgip-3 striped-right-lgip-2

Off the shoulder tops.

So fun. So flirty. So summery. In my opinion, one of my favorite trends for warmer weather. Here’s how I styled this one (and I’m not wearing my jean shorts so go me!!). These jeans y’all… My absolute favorite pair ever. They’re under $40 and they’ve been to hell and back. Medium wash goes with everything.

No necklace today, in order to show off the neckline of the top. Instead, I chose some hoop earrings.

These platform sneakers (hello espadrille) are my go-to shoe (besides my TKEES this summer). They’re super comfy and the white and rope combo complements any outfit.  Go out and get you a pair! I’m linking mine below (scored them for under $50).

What’s in my bag?

While taking doing blog photo shoots– this girl comes prepared. I fill my purse to the brim with all the quick fixes. When in need of a touch up, I always carry some lipstick or gloss, and mascara. My current favorites are this mascara (tried and true) and this lip balm. A few other essentials are sunglasses (can never bring too many pairs), extra jewelry (I swear I always decide last minute which earrings I want to rock), and my TKEES for when my feet get tired.

Super big shouts to my friend Maddie for the fabulous pictures. Y’all go give her instagram a peek, she is so talented.

Explorin’ Charleston

Happy hump day friends!! This week’s been a hard adjustment getting back to real life. *sigh* Spring Break was just too good to me, y’all. Speaking of, here’s a recap of our time in Charleston. Ugh, if you haven’t visited you need to. The architecture is so beautiful and the food is 100. I hope I can go back soon because I seriously fell in love.

We went exploring and I made sure we headed straight to Rainbow Row to look at the beautiful houses! We strolled along the Battery and then a bit in the “French Quarter” area (paging home) for some market shopping. Dinner was amaze. We went to Stars Bar and Rooftop Grill (I literally felt so adult-like) and it was sooooooo bomb.

This set from Free People has been so fabulous this spring, I think I’ve worn it as separates three or four times. I paired the skirt with this open knit distressed sweater. I have always loved the look of a skirt and sweater so I was dying to recreate it with this set! My pearl on suede cord, MK watch and Jacks rounded out the look.

I’ll be sharing a few more pics from the trip in my Life Lately so stay tuned :-) See y’all next week!

Things I’ve bought recently | Edition 1

Posted in Beauty, Fashion
on 03/15/2017

Hey ma ladies. How’s this week treating’ ya so far? I know I am just getting started lol. After an extremely hectic Monday, I was able to have a chillish Tuesday and now it’s hump day so things are picking back up. I got to thinking about this week’s post- scrolling through my instagram feed, reading my favorite blogs- and it came to me… a shopping roundup?! I’ve been doing a lot of shopping lately. I’m not sure what it is… I’m just in a spending mood which my bank account is not thanking me for. Good thing payday is coming up this week (thank you, thank you)!! Well, without further ado, let’s get into it…

things-ive-bought-reccently-7-lgip

bauble bar tassel earrings

Statement earrings are definitely here to stay this spring. I recently picked up this pair from Hemline (shouts!!) and I am in love. Often times, I find myself wearing a simple outfit so some fun earrings like these will dress it up! I’m linking some other earrings I’m lusting for below.

things-ive-bought-reccently-1-lgip

pink ray ban aviators

Y’all know my undying loyalty to the Ray Ban aviator, so when I shattered a lens over Mardi Gras break I needed to replace the pair asap. Luckily, my roommate had a pair she was wanting to get rid of. They’re a pink lens with a gold frame and different from anything I’d seen before! I styled them in my last post and they honestly made me feel like Hyde lol.

things-ive-bought-reccently-3-lgip

steve madden platform espadrille sneaker

If you follow me on Instagram, you would know that I have been on a sneaker kick!! Every time I get ready for work, I reach for them. They literally go with everything in my closet, I swear. I’ve paired them with a fringe top and skirt, denim dress, chambray shirt and black shorts… the options are endless.

two faced born this way

I was in the market for a new foundation, so I ran over to Sephora last weekend. With some coaxing, I settled upon the Two Faced Born This Way foundation. It’s oil-free, medium coverage, and good for combination skin, which is what I’m about to have since I’m starting Accutane in a month or two (wheee!!). So far, so good.

benefit hoola

In the height of my makeup obsession stage (sophomore year of high school), I used this stuff religiously. The shade is perfect for my coloring anytime of year and I always have great experiences with Benefit products. When the mini size caught my eye; I knew I needed to go back to it!

philosophy purity made simple

I go back to this cleanser time and time again. I think this is my fourth bottle #noshameintherepurchasegame so if that tells ya anything.. I use my  Clarisonic Mia (which is a literal dinosaur) with it and I would recommend to any skin type!!

things-ive-bought-reccently-7-lgip

denim shift dress

Pay day had me feeling on a high for about a week. I ended up scouring Asos and stumbling upon this little number. As a working gal, I am always looking for easy dresses I can wear for work. This one is sooo cute with a sneaker, chunky heel, or even sandal for the spring. It runs true to size. I normally wear a XS-S and went with the XS, which was perf.

things-ive-bought-reccently-2-lgip

fringe top

Refer to my previous post for more on this top, but I am in looovvveeee and I can’t stop talking about it. Fringe is just so fun. It’s a nice change of pace for me with my basic tees and jeans every dang day. The top runs pretty true to size (I got a small for reference). I’m gonna link some more fringe pieces because I feel like spring/summer are the time to rock it!

Is it just me or have any of y’all been on a shopping kick lately? Leave me some comments with some stuff you’ve recently bought!

Feelin’ fringy

Posted in Fashion
on 03/08/2017

You guys! You guys!! I cannot believe the moment has come for me… You’re probs wondering what in the heck I’m talking about right? Well, I’m just coming to a  realization I’m getting a lil #edgy with my looks. Platform sneaks, fringe jacket and tank, and some pink shades…. Jeez. I’m too much.

fringe-lgip-1 fringe-lgip-2 fringe-lgip-3 fringe-lgip-4 fringe-lgip-5 fringe-lgip-7 fringe-lgip-8 fringe-lgip-9 fringe-lgip-10fringe-lgip-11 fringe-lgip-12 fringe-lgip-13 fringe-lgip-14 fringe-lgip-15

Photos were taken by Catherine Quant.

I was feeling hella fun when I got dressed. I mean- a fringe tank was enough, but to add a shag jacket on top? I’ve gone crazy… I actually centered this entire look around my new espadrille sneaks (those of you that follow me on Instagram are fully aware I am obsessed with them. I only posted about them about 5 times… so there’s that). They’re so fun and honestly out of my comfort zone. While I was at it, I figured I’d go all out and throw some fringe on too! This tank was another sale rack find and I’d been trying to figure out what to pair it with, but then it hit me.. a jean skirt (obvi)! Since it was chilly, I opted for a shag jacket (another sale rack find wahoo). And y’all these pink Ray Bans are my new favorite thing… they make me feel like Hyde from that 70’s show lol. I thought they went pretty well with this 70’s feeling look!

PS: I just started using Lightroom to edit my blog pictures.. how do y’all like it? I think it’s a lot easier to manipulate photos than on Photoshop. I’m still getting the hang of things, but I’m pleased with my first real round of edits on it!

How to rock a sweater for spring

Posted in Fashion
on 02/08/2017

How’s it going girlies?! Is this week treating you well? I know I’m about knee deep in school work (considering I have two ginormous tests next week). So I feel y’all, but let’s finish this week strong! I have faith we can do it!

This week’s post goes out to styling sweaters for the spring time.

img_0078 img_0081 img_0082 img_0096 img_0109img_0094 img_0146 img_0147

Photos by Madeline Dunbar.

I got this coral chunky sweater recently so I had to break it out and style it for this warm LA weather we’ve been blessed with :-) Sweaters with shorts/a skirt is one of my favorite looks when you want to look warm, but it’s actually 75 degrees outside (thanks LA!!). Jean cutoffs def make the outfit a little bit edgier. Fun story about the cutoffs I’m wearing… they’re a pair of mom jeans from Goodwill I cut into shorts when I was in eighth grade (do y’all remember when DIY shorts were all the rage? Lol #tbt). I’ve been paring down my accessories lately so I focused on necklaces and layered a gold choker with my Alpha Phi bar. Ok wait, I almost forgot to talk to y’all about my booties! They’re so stinking’ fun! I have a taupe pair and Catherine (my roomie) owns the black. If you’re going for an edgy-er look, I would highly recommend you snag a pair! They’re currently on sale in a few colors!

I’m linking some adorable chunky sweaters (all under $50!) along with the rest of my outfit deets.

shop the look

I think that just about wraps up this week’s post. How do y’all like to style chunky sweaters in warmer weather? Leave me a comment below, I love to chat!
