rodan + fields unblemish line // nyx soft matte lip cream in twerp // sally hansen airbrush legs // dolce vita for target zoey chunky lace up heels // nyx hd finishing powder // ban.do large agenda

IT’S BEEN TOO LONG, MY PEOPLE. To make a long story short: I moved back to LSU (can I get a heck yeah?!), started recruitment, but a massive flood hit us hard so recruitment has gotten moved back a week… I’m off silence (technically) as of right now so here’s a lil post for y’all!

As of late, I’ve been experimenting around with acne products + Catherine (my roomie) introduced me to this line, Rodan + fields. So far, I’m enjoying the multi-step routine a lot! Topical products normally take at least 4 weeks start seeing results, so I’m planning to use this Unblemish line while I wait to start my first round of Accutane ever (eeeeek)!

NYX has been a home run for me recently with all their products, especially the HD finishing powder, which I’ve been using to bake my under eye concealer (it ROCKS), and the Soft matte lip cream (beautiful matte finish and great staying power).

Being back at school, I have to say I’ve gotten lazy with my regular self tanning routine… My bad lol. If I’m going out and want my legs to look good, I’ll use this Sally hansen leg makeup. It adds some color to my legs as well as evening them out and making them look amazing!

If y’all have been following me for the past few months, you would know I’ve been HEAD OVER HEELS for any lace up shoe by Dolce Vita. Visiting my local target a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a Dolce Vita for target line. While hyper ventilating, I snagged a pair of these lace up chunky heeled shoes. Paired with jeans or even a simple romper/dress they add so much interest and contrast (since they’re black). I haven’t quite broken them in yet, but I’m sure once I have they will be the perfect going out shoes!

In reference to my previous agenda post, I decided to order this ban.do agenda! The size is perfect and I am so pleased with all it’s quirky + cute sayings in the inside. I would recommend!

Do y’all have anything that’s been on your radar lately you want to share? Leave me a comment below!

freshman-year-recap-1-lgip

Honestly, I dreaded writing this post because it would mean that it’s over. My freshman year of college is over. As depressed as it makes me, I absolutely cannot wait to experience what the rest of my three years at LSU holds for me. Freshman year was one hell of a ride. To take in every single moment would literally make this blog post go on for years on end :) So, I’ll save y’all some trouble and recap it in a few words.

Living on campus at LSU was ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF. I met so many friends from living in the 7 floor shack known as Miller, or the Miller Mansion. It was the classic all girls dorm — old, loud, and dirty (not surprised that over 600 can’t clean up after themselves). My roomie, Olive,  who has been featured on the blog and I were complete randoms and things could not have worked out any better. Olive, if you’re reading this please know I am hella thankful that we somehow found each other. If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have had a shoulder to cry on, someone to eat with me at any hour of the day, a ride home from TL, or a second opinion on every outfit and every boy. Forever #535!

Recruitment was honestly something I had always assumed I would be partaking in, and I sure am glad about that. Rushing Alpha Phi, as corny as it sounds, has been one of best things to ever happen to me. I have met lifelong friends, mentors and I’ve become a more passionate leader. To my home away from home, I thank you for giving me memories to last a lifetime. I am so humbled to be able to take a part in something bigger than myself. Getting involved in Alpha Phi from the get-go was so instrumental in my wanting to run for executive board. I currently serve my chapter as our Director of Finance (aka Treasurer aka M-Money as I wish I was called lol) and while the job is a very large responsibility, I have such an amazing time giving back to Alpha Phi what it has given me in this short time I have been a member. I hope to continue to serve my chapter as a member of our executive board and hopefully when I graduate, apply to be an ELC. If you have the chance to rush, I would 10/10 recommend it.

Starting freshman year, I was so nervous about the leap from high school classes (even though I had taken some dual credit and AP courses in high school) to college ones. Going in, I had about 27 credit hours which got a lot of my basic classes out of the way. Second semester I was able to take major classes, and they have me really excited for future classes. I have decided to add a minor in Theatre to my college career, to complete my major in Fashion Merchandising and other minor in Business. I really enjoy school because it is challenging (Accounting killed me but thankfully I finished with a B- #blessed), and next semester should be interesting since I’ll be in some more major classes as well as some minor classes too! The course load in college definitely requires effort, but I think the jump is doable if you come with a good work ethic. I quickly learned I had to form good study habits, and learn the ropes of the library (club Mid) in order to be successful at LSU.

A huuugggeee part of LSU is gamedays/going out, and as much as I focus on my academics, I love a fun night out or gameday as much as any other LSU student. Tiger land is unlike anything I had ever seen before coming to LSU. Who knew that a run down group of bars would hold some of my favorite memories from freshman year? There is ALWAYS something to do at LSU whether it be a night out, gameday, fraternity party, or philanthropy event. Getting ready to go out is always such a fun time because I spent my days in norts and t-shirts so I loved getting dressed up to show people I don’t always look like a homeless sorority girl (lol). Gamedays never failed to be a literal shiz show. The gameday culture at LSU is a tradition I was so excited to be able to experience. I wrote one post a little bit about it here. The pride that comes with being an LSU fan is indescribable. Gameday really sealed the deal for me, confirming that LSU is where I am supposed to be.

I have learned a lot about myself this first year of college. I am more passionate about leading than I ever have been before. I’ve learned not to take anything too seriously. I’ve learned to cherish the moment because college only happens once and it will be the best four years of your life. I’ve learned not to let boys ruin my day. I’ve learned to talk to anyone you can — they could end up being your best friends. I’ve learned that the friendships that matter can withstand the test of anything. I’ve learned to take my studies seriously, but not to be afraid to have a fun night out. I’ve learned how to juggle school, sorority, and a social life. I’ve learned that I just gotta keep doing me and things will fall into place (with hard work and determination of course).

Freshman year, you’ll live on forever in my heart. I’ll never forget the growth I’ve experienced this year — whether it was the lifelong sisters and friends I’ve made, the solidity that the career I have chosen is for me, or just the general mantra that life will go on.

With all that being said, GEAUX TIGERS! Forever LSU!

PS: Thanks for sticking with me through my freshman year of college, I love y’all to the moon and back for it!

I’ve been spending my days in norts and t-shirts, so I’ll take any excuse to get dressed up! Yesterday night  my gal pals and I got dressed up to celebrate to dear friends Maria and Elise birthdays (aka a hump day celebration)!

(Once again shout out to my iPhone for these fly pics)

We went to Caliente, our local Mexican restaurant for some bomb queso, chips and salsa (honestly I live off of that stuff). I ended up wearing this paisley Free People dress, and my OTBT Bushnell wedges (still obsessed y’all). Getting dressed up is one of my favorite things to do, so I thoroughly enjoyed last night being able to eat good food and enjoy some good company! Y’all can shop my look below:

Life Lately | March Edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on 03/31/2016

Well it’s officially official. One more month until I finish my freshman year of college. What the heck?! I cannot be growing up this fast. March was definitely a great month that consisted of two extremes – taking a lot of tests and having a lot of fun. I’m going to recap my month of March for y’all in this short post. Let’s do this! :)

As I get closer to the end of the school year, I think about how much I’m going to miss my roomie, Olive. Ah the times we have shared this year. I’m trying to cherish every moment of living with her!! This picture is from a girls night out in Tigerland! I always enjoy getting to hang out with my gals all dressed up.

Living in SoLA, I’ve grown up with beignets – and man am I happy about that. These fried pieces of dough can really bring me some joy and a full stomach. There’s nothing I love more than being able to eat a huge breakfast and get my day started the right way.

Going to school at LSU has it’s perks ;) My friends and I recently went to Pi Kappa Phi’s “Swampwater” party. They had Moon Taxi play and I ended up accidentally meeting them which was super exciting! If you haven’t listened to them check out their song “Morocco” here. The weather was absolutely horrible so I ended up taking the theme and running with it by wearing my Hunter boots, a green Piko top, some cutoff jean shorts with my long black necklace double wrapped.

rainy day looks

Spring break was one for the books. Pretty much all of the LSU student body headed to Gulf Shores for a week of fun. The weather was not the best, but we made it work. Most of the day, I ended up wearing shorts  over my bathing suits. I’ll link some bathing suits I’m obsessed with below.

After Spring Break, I was able to take an actual break for a few days in my hometown. I did a little shopping at Forever 21 (my town just got one) and some local boutiques. I’m doing a post on this outfit soon, so look out for that. I’m linking some of my purchases below!

my recent purchases

While exploring around in downtown Cov (one of my faves), I decided to try some juice from Wildcrafter. I had never done juice before, so the woman who was working there let me sample all of the flavors – and let me just say props to the people who can drink green juice. I ended up going with a pineapple, apple, and aloe vera combination which was super refreshing. It’s expensive to drink handmade organic juices so I don’t think I’ll be taking up that as a hobby anytime soon.

Girls night consisted of face masks and french braids. Madeline and I went for it and wet some Columbian roast and put it on our faces – to help our skin and for the photo op (isn’t everything for the picture?). We had a great night hanging out before she goes back to SCAD for her last quarter this year.

As ya’ll saw in my previous post, Easter Sunday was a day of fun, family, and food for me. Here’s a picture of me and my sweet Mama celebrating. Most people say we look like twins. Do y’all see the resemblance?

How was y’alls month of March? Give me some feedback in the comments below!

Life Lately | January Edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on 01/27/2016

How the heck is it already almost February 2016?! I still can’t believe it y’all. I didn’t get to do a recap of my December so I definitely wanted to make a point to do a recap of my January. So many fun things happened this month- NYE, going back to school, celebrating my 19th birthday, taking a few trips to NOLA, etc. Keep on reading to get the scoop on how January was for me.

IMG_8520

Well truth be told, I took this picture at the end of December, but I love it too much I had to feature it in this post. My fam bam and I celebrated my big’s being presented into society as a deb in good ole Baton Rouge. The ball was such a fun time and there was even breakfast for dinner #blessed after a night of dancing.

img_8588.jpeg

Most low-key NYE ever happened this year. We made home-made pizza (which was delish) and then popped some champagne at midnight. Not to mention, we all wore our P J’s which made everything 1000x cuter.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

To commemorate our wonderful winter break, we had tea at the beginning of January. I got Chai tea (I got it from my mama- we’re both obsessed with chai) and an english muffin with some strawberry jam. I always love sampling the tea everyone orders, and then deciding mine’s the best (lol).

 img_8758.jpeg

I made this car decal for a coworker of mine. It’s about five inches big and I love how it turned out with the color and the font. Still trying to decide if I’d like to put these up on my shop… Let me know what y’all think.

Going green in NOLA. This ensemble was featured in one of my recent posts. Maddie, Zach and I spent the day in NOLA and took some fun pictures. Although it was super cold outside, we still had such a fun time romping around. How much do y’all love this green Ray Ban and green Hunter boot combo? I’m 10/10 obsessed.

img_8790.jpeg

Manicure SUNday this month was this creamy grey color… It’s such a change of pace from my usual Lincoln Park after Dark. Light grey hues are in for this winter, they’re so easy to wear with anything. PS: Shoutout to my sis, Cat, for the mug! Check out her blog here.

img_8827.jpeg

A super high quality picture for a super high quality birthday, right? Lol at me. 19 has never felt so good. My friends and family really made my day so special this year! NOLA and Baton Rouge couldn’t handle my crew… We rocked the socks off of both cities.

Just a lil something to leave y’all with…

I’m feelin’ 19 | Birthday OOTD

on 01/24/2016

Happy Birthday to me! :) I had such a fantastic day yesterday with my friends and family. We ended up heading into NOLA for the day and met my Mom, Bruce and twin sister Reagan. We all ate lunch at Domenica in the Roosevelt Hotel. I split a Prosciutto pizza and some Squid pasta (sounds weird but soo yummy). We went to eat some desert in the Roosevelt after and to take some pictures of the whole group. Then my parents and Reagan headed back to Mandeville and the rest of us went to the Riverwalk. I literally hadn’t been there since seventh grade so it had changed a lot lol. We walked around and I ended up “treating myself” (I love Parks and Rec but mostly Tom Haverford) to a pair of Ray Bans on the discounted rack. They had a “defect” in them so they were on sale for $99! I normally NEVER pay full price for sunglasses so it worked out well! I am really into the brown lens with the black frame- I had never seen them before!

Once we left NOLA, we got some pizza (twice in one day I know) and then went out in Baton Rouge and it was such a great time! Thanks to my friends and family for making my birthday so special, I love each and every one of you!

Here’s some pictures of my outfit for y’all to see!

J Crew Waxed Jacket // J Crew Gigi Pants // We The Free Thermal // J Crew Vest // Tory Burch Boots // Ray Bans // Mini MAC // MK Sport Watch // Bauble Bar Tassel Bracelet

The weather yesterday was such a bummer because it was freezing. It’s been pretty cold here in Louisiana for the past few weeks… I’m not sure if I like it or not. For warmth, I went for layers. I borrowed this thermal turtleneck from Maddie, and I am in LOVE with it. It looks so cute with a vest on or even to wear it on its own with a long necklace. Over that, I layered my J Crew Excursion vest (shocker there.. Told y’all I was obsessed with vests). To top off my top half, I wore my J Crew Waxed Jacket. I talked about how much I love this piece in my winter essentials post so you can click for more deets. For pants, I chose my J Crew Gigi pants. These are seriously the freaking best. They’re a step up from leggings because they have stitching/piping on the back of the leg and they zip in addition to being a super stretchy and thick material.

To top off my outfit I wore my Tory Burch riding boots, and I carried my Mini MAC (fave crossbody EVER). For accessories, I wore my usual MK Sport Watch as well as my tassel cuff from Bauble Bar. Like I mentioned earlier in this post, I picked up a new pair of Ray Bans and I decided to wear them too!

What do y’all do for your birthday? Let me know in the comments below! Until Wednesday..

How to rock bold lips this holiday season | My fave lip products under $10

Posted in Beauty
on 12/14/2015

Bold lips are a favorite trend of mine year round, but for the holidays, I think it’s especially fun. I’ve decided to dedicate a whole post to help you rock bold lips this season. All of the products I’m talking about in this post are under $10!

how-to-rock-bold-lips-1-lgip

//Prep//

LUSH Lip Scrub: If you want to rock a bold lip, you’ve got to slough that dry skin off. This LUSH lip scrub is my favorite thing ever. You scrub it on your lips with your finger and it’s even edible so you can lick it off when you’re done. My favorite flavor is Mint Julip but Bubblegum and the limited edition Santa lip scrub (it tastes like Coke) are some contenders.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve: This is my holy grail product. I love love love it. These lil tubs will last for FOREVER. After I brush my teeth, I put this on. It’s not sticky, and not too thick either. It gives my lips the perfect amount of moisture. Keeping lips hydrated is essential to rocking bold lips. This is an awesome follow up to the lip scrub before you apply your bold lip color.

Revlon Lip Butters are the best. They are super creamy, bold lipsticks with a perfect amount of moisture in them. I only own three, but I plan on getting a few more because they are that good. Plus they’re all under $10!

Candy Apple: This one is the perfect candy apple red color for any occasion. It’s adorable for a tacky Christmas party or even to wear with an adorable lil cocktail dress to a fancy Christmas bash. Whatever the occasion, you’ll look super festive!

Pink Truffle: The easy neutral for your holiday season. It looks good with anything, and it can really be dressed up/dressed down. This color is super cute to wear with some jeans and boots or with a super chunky scarf and sweater. It complements any skin tone and these neutral browny colors are in this season (and we have Kylie Jenner to thank for that!)

Lollipop: I call this one my Frenchy lipstick because it’s what I wore in Grease (lol). It’s a gorgeous bright pink that jazzes up any outfit. I think bright pinks aren’t always thought of as the most wearable color, but I have to say I love this one for its unconventionality. Great for a holiday party, night on the town or even to add a pop to your daytime look.

What your favorite beauty trend for the holiday season? Let me know in the comments!

Life Lately | November Edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on 12/01/2015

Hi my friends!! I am so sorry for the lack of posts last week, as I was off of school for a few days and literally the only thing I wanted to do was lie in bed all day. I’m trying to get on a regular posting schedule, so y’all can expect posts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from me for now on. I wanted to compile a few pictures and just check in with y’all about what’s been happening in my life lately!

life-lately-nov-edition-1-lgip

Here’s a lil sneak peak of what I wore to the last LSU home game versus Texas A&M this weekend. The weather was super weird.. It was overcast but extremely hot during the day and once we got into the game, it was perfect. I styled a bronze sequin skirt with a chunky high low sweater, a long freshwater pearl necklace. black booties and my Ray Ban aviators- obvi. Maddie is wearing an adorable pair of black suede shorts with an oatmeal colored sweater and a grey necklace wrapped twice (so it’s a choker and long). She wore some beige F21 booties with it and topped things off with her black Ray Bans.

The game was so much fun, considering it was like a little high school reunion. My friend, Gavin came into town from the Big Apple to spend the week in LA for Thanksgiving. I also had my high school friends Madeline and Sophia come into town for the game. The Tigers were finally able to get their stuff together and pull out a W! Les Miles coached what we thought was his last game with LSU and it was very emotional. He got carried off the field by the players only to find out that his job was safe and he would be our coach next year. Yay! To that I say #LesIsMore!

Baton Rouge can get boring on non-home game weekends (aka LSU vs Ole Miss), so my gal pals and I decided to head out to a cute girls dinner, followed by a night on the town (at Tigerland, that is. Classy, right?). We all got dressed up super super cute and hit up our local Mexican restaurant for some rocking food. I am stealing some outfit inspo from these ladies next time I head out- they all looked too cute! I love having fun girls nights out every once in a while!

I was recently elected to my chapter’s executive council as Director of Finance. It’s a super heavy load and a huge responsibility being in charge of everyone’s money- but I’m up for the task. I wanted to get involved in my chapter and I thought that jumping right into exec would be a great way to do so. I am so excited for the upcoming year to grow as an Alpha Phi with this group of women. While you’re at it, check out my chapter’s Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook and website.

Who is excited for the Christmas Season? I know I am!!
