Things I’ve bought recently | Edition 3

Posted in Fashion
on 12/04/2017

Hey hey! Happy Thursday y’all! I thought I would do a little roundup of a bunch of things I’ve bought recently because these are some of my favorite posts to write. Pretty much everything is under $100 because ya girl is #ballinonabudget. Go ahead and scroll down to check all the newness out.

buddha girl bangles

I am obsessed with these bangles. I wear them every time I dress up because I love the pop they bring to my outfits. They are weatherproof, TSA proof, and life proof! Did I mention they would be a good Christmas gift? The story behind them is so cool and I have been going crazy saying my serenity prayers on them when I get flustered.

mumu purple halter top

I snagged this top during the MuMu black Friday sale for around $35. Say whaattt? Yeah, I was thinking this would be perfect for game days (peep the lavender color) but also could be super cute during the holidays for a little party outfit!

black-cheetah-ootd-lgip-2cabby hat

It’s me trying to get on board with this new trend.. cabby hats? Can’t say I’ve ever been a hat gal before but I thought I should try it out. I found a bunch of budget friendly options at Forever (I’m talking under $20 y’all) so don’t be too scared to try this trend out! I love how it edges up a look.

joa sweater

Chunky. Pink. Perfect. Yep, that pretty much sums up this sweater. It is my new favorite thing ever and goes great with jeans and whatever else you want to pair it with! It’s under $80 and comes in a bunch of great neutral (and fun) options.

black-cheetah-ootd-lgip-9seychelles patent leather booties

I scored these babies off Revolve for $80. I was looking for months for a cute trendy pair of chunky heeled booties. Nude? Patent? Leather? Omg, how freaking fun! Since they hit right on my lower leg, I think they’re great paired with skirts, dresses, and would also be so good with a pair of cropped jeans (gonna rock em with these)!

marley lilly sweater

My favorite throw on and go sweater. I always grab this sweater for school because it looks great with yoga pants or active shorts. Every time I wear it, I get soo many complements on it! Plus, it’s on sale right now!

Thanks for reading! I’m taking my finals this week so by next Monday I will be a free woman (aka no school for a month.. wahoo)!

Wednesday blues | How to add more Show me your MuMu to your closet

Posted in Fashion

Hey my people. I’m coming to ya today to share this adorable little blue and white look. Funny story: while I was trying to shoot this, I was dripping in sweat (TMI?). Gotta love that Louisiana heat.

tunic | jeans (under $40) | tkees | crossbody | ray ban aviators

This summer I’ve definitely become a Show me your MuMu addict. Good thing I have two roommates who share that obsession with me and let me borrow their clothes (lol). I’ve got some Benji tees that are currently en route to me (so excited to style them). I digress though. While I like the printed pieces, I find that their solid ones are more versatile (and less memorable aka you can get away with them more haha). This tunic top is so great with jeans — white for summer and medium wash for winter. The flowy sleeves are so fun and I love the cut of the v-neck. This blue color is to die for!

I am always all about the white jeans and this pair I love because of all their distressing. They’re super comfy and under $40! Y’all know I love me some Old Navy jeans. I’ll link my favorite medium wash pair here (both under $40).

My shoes… oh my gosh my shoes. They are seriously my favorite shoes for the summer! So stinking comfy and they look good with everrryyything. The gold adds a nice metallic pop to the outfit too!

How to score Mumu without breaking the bank

Along with my recent obession, I have learned to shop THE SALES. It’s amazing how many smaller boutiques and retailers have sales on MuMu. Fall merchandise is about to start rollin in so summer items are going on sale (including MuMu)! In addition to shopping boutiques, I check MuMu’s sale section pretty frequently and there’s normally some great stuff in there. If all else fails, you can get a Unidays discount for MuMu (10% off) for your full priced items! Ebay and Poshmark can be good too (ya might just have to do some searching) for gently used MuMu.

White on denim

Posted in Fashion
on 06/07/2017

Let’s talk simplicity. Although I *feel* (keyword: feel) like I’ve been getting more daring with my fashion choices, in all honestly I think all I’ve done is wear some overalls, neck scarves, and fun earrings. So yeah, I do have somewhat of a safe style, but ya know what, there’s nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day there is nothing I love more than jeans and a t-shirt.

Essentially the point of that entire blurb was to say this outfit is super simple, but it’s also a little fun with the pops of color I added (thank you for accessories). White on denim is one of my favorite combos year round, but I especially love it for the summer.

Another off the shoulder top I know… Lol. This one goes great with a skirt or even denim shorts. The skirt I’m wearing is on sale right now (wahoo)! It’ll definitely come in handy this fall during football season. If you keep up with me on social media, you would know I am head over heels for statement earrings. These mini tassels are from BaubleBar and they’re so fun to throw on with a simple outfit like this one. I have not worn these green mirrored Ray Bans in forever so I decided to add them to the mix too (more fun colors to this otherwise simple outfit).

Ooooh, those shoes.

Omg, I know right?! They were a huuugge splurge for me, but I finally bit the bullet after eyeing them for two weeks straight (a little obsessive, no?). They’re Marc Fisher, so the quality and comfort is there. This season’s must have shoe has been the “Adalyn” and I love the look of that wedge, but I felt like the “Randall” was more my style. They’re a great wedge to wear everyday with anything from dresses to jean shorts. I’d say they run pretty true to size and are well worth the hefty price tag. There’s a bunch of different colors to choose from (I love the blue) so I’ll link them for y’all below.

Do y’all find yourself playing it safe with your outfits? Lemme know your struggle below. Until next time!!

Life lately | March edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on 04/13/2017

Wellll I assumed it was better late than never to get my March Life Lately up. So here goes nothin. :-)

I love when I can actually have a lazy Sunday; it seriously makes my week so much better. Flipping through a magazine and jamming to Ed Sheeran’s album makes for the perfect day.

Are y’all tired of me talking about this fringe top yet? I swear this is last time for a while… But I’m just so in love with it. Such a risky purchase on my part, but I’ve been longing to stray from my basics tees and tanks.

Honestly, we all need a little motivation sometimes! I’ve been getting my monthly dose from my planner. Each month’s got a cute illustration/quote — they make the perfect insta pics.

I’m a firm believer that all you need in life is a good taco!! Life is better when ya have a lil Mexican food in ya. I always love grabbing some tacos to satisfy my craving!

Our chapter’s annual Red Dress Gala was this month! I ended up rocking my dress from last year since time crept up on me this year so I wasn’t able to buy a new one. My Dad came to support me and we had a fab time hanging out with my gals and their parents.

Since our Red Dress Gala was this month, we ended up making a family weekend out of it! Sunday was a mom’s tea and pop-up shop event. I had to work the Hemline pop-up so my lovely Momma (who was the best sport) came to help me. We caught up over some lunch after, making it an overall chill Sunday.

Songfest (an LSU signature Greek Life event) was at the end of this month. I was so so sad I wasn’t in it this year, but I had to go to support my girls! We came armed with low sticks and signs galore. Hard work paid off and our girls won third place!!

Here’s an outfit of the day pre Songfest. I’ve found myself doing adult things on Sundays lately, so cute clothes have been needed lol. I styled my OTS top (part of my new FP set) with some white flares (did I mention how excited I am that they’re back??) and my TKEES. Shoutout to my pal LJ for the fringe hoops!

My music favorites for this month:

Hearts Don’t Break Around Here by Ed Sheehan

Rock City by Kings of Leon

All my Love by the Beatles

I’m linking my best playlist for y’all here.

My beauty favorites for this month:

Two Faced Born This Way foundation

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Philosophy Purity Made Simple

I’ve been lusting after this month:

TKEES in Sweet smoke (gloss)

Tie front tops

Quay sunnies

Styling a faux leather skirt for daytime

Posted in Fashion
on 12/14/2016

It’s finnallllyyyy winter break over here in LA, + I could not be happier to have a few weeks away from school work. Although it won’t be much of a break for me (I’ll be working almost everyday in BR + at home), I’m looking forward to it. My first OOTD in forever is dedicated to this faux leather mini, that I picked up for $12!

Faux leather skirts are super easy to come by, and they won’t break the bank either. Forever 21 has some great options if you’re wanting to spend next to nothing. The great thing about them is how easy they are to dress up + dress down. Dressing them down is not something I have seen often, but it was really easy to achieve. I pulled together a few options if you’re wanting to add this staple to your closet.

Daytime wear meant I needed to do some coverage up top to balance out the length of the skirt. A white sweater + one of my favorite vests topped off this super simple look. The contrast of the black + cognac of the skirt is something I thought made this outfit a lot less bland. But as always, I am a lover of neutrals + had the hardest time straying away (lol).

Styling white jeans at the end of the summer like a pro

Y’ALLLLLLLLLLL OH MY GOODNESS. I’m so in love with this simple outfit, I HAD to share! For my big’s birthday dinner and a night out, I decided to pair my fave pair of jeans, these white flares from AOS, with this colorful printed Show me your MuMu top. White jeans have quickly become one of my favorite pieces to wear this summer. Y’all know that taboo about wearing white after labor day? I think that’s total craziness! White jeans can really go into any time of year. For the end of summer, I love pairing them with a pop of color on the top for some contrast. If y’all have been following along with me lately, you would know I also have been head over heels for chokers of any sort. This black choker is actually a thin piece of ribbon from the craft store double wrapped and tied into a bow. To avoid the dragging of these amazing jeans on the floor, I opted to wear my OTBT Bushnells (my all time fave shoe).

Here’s my foolproof formula to rock any pair of white jeans like a pro:

White jeans + a patterned top

Do y’all love the white jean trend as much as I do (cause I’m obsessed)?

Hey whats up hello peeps! A very happy Wednesday to y’all! I’m currently typing this post at the beach (aka my favorite place EVS) jamming to Whitney Houston — it can’t get much better than this. Funny story about this OOTD actually if y’all want it… long story short I tried to take some outfit pics yesterday night after dinner but the lighting was ATROCIOUS. So I ended up running inside after we left the beach to quickly shower + get ready to retake pics tonight. Special thanks to my family for putting up with my craziness!

First of all, let’s talk about my obsession with this off the shoulder Piko top. It literally matches with everything + I’ve been wearing it nonstop since I got it. Tonight I paired it with some white linen shorts and a simple statement necklace from stella & dot. My kicks tonight are my gold Jacks. While on vacation I tend to just pack a pair of Jacks because they are so versatile and can serve as my flip-flops but can dress an outfit up too!

Hope y’all enjoyed this OOTD, I’ll talk to y’all on Sunday :-)

lace up dress // shoes // mini mac // necklace

Happy Wednesday my loves!

I am almost never seen in dresses or rompers but to be honest they are some of my favorite pieces because they are so easy. Lace up everything is all the rage right now, and I am really into the trend. I’ve been seeing lace up pop up in sandals, dresses, rompers, and even side lace up shorts and skirts. My lace up dress is from Tobi and it is the perfect dress to throw on for a dinner date! To keep things simplistic and showcase the statement, I added some chunky heels, my Mini MAC, and some pearl earrings. Underneath, I opted for a cream bralette but if you’re daring (and I applaud you for that) you could go braless!

Y’all need to check out Tobi because they always have 50% off for new customers as well as free shipping! Head to Tobi to see some more of their product: shoes, lingerie, tops.

Are y’all into the lace up trend? I’m curious to hear your opinions. Leave me a comment below!
