How to rock a sweater for spring

Posted in Fashion

How’s it going girlies?! Is this week treating you well? I know I’m about knee deep in school work (considering I have two ginormous tests next week). So I feel y’all, but let’s finish this week strong! I have faith we can do it!

This week’s post goes out to styling sweaters for the spring time.

I got this coral chunky sweater recently so I had to break it out and style it for this warm LA weather we’ve been blessed with :-) Sweaters with shorts/a skirt is one of my favorite looks when you want to look warm, but it’s actually 75 degrees outside (thanks LA!!). Jean cutoffs def make the outfit a little bit edgier. Fun story about the cutoffs I’m wearing… they’re a pair of mom jeans from Goodwill I cut into shorts when I was in eighth grade (do y’all remember when DIY shorts were all the rage? Lol #tbt). I’ve been paring down my accessories lately so I focused on necklaces and layered a gold choker with my Alpha Phi bar. Ok wait, I almost forgot to talk to y’all about my booties! They’re so stinking’ fun! I have a taupe pair and Catherine (my roomie) owns the black. If you’re going for an edgy-er look, I would highly recommend you snag a pair! They’re currently on sale in a few colors!

I’m linking some adorable chunky sweaters (all under $50!) along with the rest of my outfit deets.

I think that just about wraps up this week’s post. How do y’all like to style chunky sweaters in warmer weather? Leave me a comment below, I love to chat!

Bayou Bengals | LGIP OOTD

Saturday’s endeavors included Alpha Phi family day (aka a tailgate and baseball game at Alex Box Stadium) and some beautiful weather. The Tigers played Mississippi State in a series, which we unfortunately lost. I am a baseball fan, but hadn’t had the chance to go to any games this season, so I was super stoked to be able to go to one! Here’s my ootd deets (if you’re interested) :-)

Photos by Catherine Quant.

I was going for a casual OOTD – complete with jean shorts, a tee and sneakers. I added my long black necklace and double wrapped it to be choker at the top to add some glam to the outfit. These leopard print sneakers that I borrowed from my friend Catherine added the perfect pop! I ended up loving the end result of this casual gameday look. I definitely plan to incorporate sneakers into more of my looks because they were soo comfy!

Shop my look below! I couldn’t find the link to the tee I was wearing so I included another graphic tee I am absolutely obsessed with right now from Show me your MuMu.

Hump day celebration | LGIP Blabbers

I’ve been spending my days in norts and t-shirts, so I’ll take any excuse to get dressed up! Yesterday night  my gal pals and I got dressed up to celebrate to dear friends Maria and Elise birthdays (aka a hump day celebration)!

(Once again shout out to my iPhone for these fly pics)

We went to Caliente, our local Mexican restaurant for some bomb queso, chips and salsa (honestly I live off of that stuff). I ended up wearing this paisley Free People dress, and my OTBT Bushnell wedges (still obsessed y’all). Getting dressed up is one of my favorite things to do, so I thoroughly enjoyed last night being able to eat good food and enjoy some good company! Y’all can shop my look below:

Also help me out and let me know what kind of posts you’d like to see? More OOTDs? More random blabbing posts? More picks for different occasions?

Colorblockin’ | LGIP OOTD

Hello my loves! This weekend I headed to a huge event in NOLA, Hogs for the Cause – which is a charity BBQ competition benefitting pediatric brain cancer. My dad has a team that cooks in the competition every year! So I decided to head on out there and support him and sample the amazing food.

Since it had rained so heavily before, the entire NOLA City Park was flooded and super duper muddy. I wore my Hunter boots and man am I glad that I did! It was a bit windy too so I decided on a long sleeve Piko top and some flowy shorts. My Longchamp was perfect because it’s huge and is great to sling around (if it gets dirty I can just wash it – it’s the best). I added a statement necklace from Forever 21 and that topped it off! This outfit ended up being an unintentional color block – but I loved the outcome!

I enjoyed getting to see each teams take on the different categories of the competition. I tried some interesting foods: pork cracklins with queso, pork balls (my dad’s submission), and green chile frito pie (made with pork) to name a few. My friend Cat (and future roomie) joined me for the trip and we got to hang out with my twin sister (check out the third picture).

Life Lately | March Edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on 03/31/2016

Well it’s officially official. One more month until I finish my freshman year of college. What the heck?! I cannot be growing up this fast. March was definitely a great month that consisted of two extremes – taking a lot of tests and having a lot of fun. I’m going to recap my month of March for y’all in this short post. Let’s do this! :)

As I get closer to the end of the school year, I think about how much I’m going to miss my roomie, Olive. Ah the times we have shared this year. I’m trying to cherish every moment of living with her!! This picture is from a girls night out in Tigerland! I always enjoy getting to hang out with my gals all dressed up.

Living in SoLA, I’ve grown up with beignets – and man am I happy about that. These fried pieces of dough can really bring me some joy and a full stomach. There’s nothing I love more than being able to eat a huge breakfast and get my day started the right way.

Going to school at LSU has it’s perks ;) My friends and I recently went to Pi Kappa Phi’s “Swampwater” party. They had Moon Taxi play and I ended up accidentally meeting them which was super exciting! If you haven’t listened to them check out their song “Morocco” here. The weather was absolutely horrible so I ended up taking the theme and running with it by wearing my Hunter boots, a green Piko top, some cutoff jean shorts with my long black necklace double wrapped.

rainy day looks

Spring break was one for the books. Pretty much all of the LSU student body headed to Gulf Shores for a week of fun. The weather was not the best, but we made it work. Most of the day, I ended up wearing shorts  over my bathing suits. I’ll link some bathing suits I’m obsessed with below.

After Spring Break, I was able to take an actual break for a few days in my hometown. I did a little shopping at Forever 21 (my town just got one) and some local boutiques. I’m doing a post on this outfit soon, so look out for that. I’m linking some of my purchases below!

my recent purchases

While exploring around in downtown Cov (one of my faves), I decided to try some juice from Wildcrafter. I had never done juice before, so the woman who was working there let me sample all of the flavors – and let me just say props to the people who can drink green juice. I ended up going with a pineapple, apple, and aloe vera combination which was super refreshing. It’s expensive to drink handmade organic juices so I don’t think I’ll be taking up that as a hobby anytime soon.

Girls night consisted of face masks and french braids. Madeline and I went for it and wet some Columbian roast and put it on our faces – to help our skin and for the photo op (isn’t everything for the picture?). We had a great night hanging out before she goes back to SCAD for her last quarter this year.

As ya’ll saw in my previous post, Easter Sunday was a day of fun, family, and food for me. Here’s a picture of me and my sweet Mama celebrating. Most people say we look like twins. Do y’all see the resemblance?

How was y’alls month of March? Give me some feedback in the comments below!

Swooning over this Spring | LGIP Spring 2016 Trends

Posted in Fashion

Things normally work out so that by the point its mid winter, I’m already wanting Spring. It’s only February, and living in Louisiana, our weather is anything but predictable, so you never actually know when Spring will grace us with its presence. Nonetheless, I am ready for things to warm up. Next month is spring break, and easter- so it’s time to whip out some bathing suits, sundresses, and of course- Jack Rogers (look at my summer posts and you will quickly learn my OBSESSION with Jacks). I’ve been peaking on a whole bunch of websites- although sadly I cannot purchase much (broke college student) and have found quite a few trends I think will show up on the fashion scene this spring.

spring trends-1-lgip

// Get your tassel on //

Honestly, I’m always a huge fan of tassels. They are something that I think is so fun and a great way to jazz up your stack. I own a few tassel bracelets from Bauble bar (see my post on them here), and I plan to be purchasing some more so I can stack those babies up! The multicolored beaded ones are my faves as of right now. Tassels can also be done in necklaces, as well as earrings. If you’re looking for a statement, go no further tassels it is!

tassel earrings // tassel bracelet with multicolored beads // long tassel necklace // tassel cross body

// Snakeskin anything //

Snakeskin has made its comeback! You can find it in anything from purses, skirts, dresses, pants (MuMu has an adorable snakeskin line).

snakskin lace up sandals // snakskin printed maxi // snakeskin printed shift // snakeskin miller sandals

// Lace em up //

Gladiator sandals were all the rage last spring/summer, and honestly I feel like they are a classic. Sam Edelman has a great line of lace-up gladiators, they even come in snakeskin, black and classic camel. I love a lace up sandal with a basic denim short and tee for a casual day. If you’re looking to dress up an outfit, chunky lace up heels are perfect. They add a little bit of pizzazz!

chunky heeled lace up // lace up flat sandals //suede lace up heels // printed lace up flat sandals

// Black and white //

Let’s be real- when is black and white not in style? This spring season I’m seeing lots of fun black and white prints. Black and white is a great base to accessorize off of. Throw on some pops of color in your shoes, or even in some jewelry.

printed 60s inspired dress // aztec skirt // shorts

// Crochet swimwear //

I’ve seen endless repins of this crochet bathing suit on Pinterest. It’s the perfect combo of that boho vibe and some bright colors. While browsing I Believe in Pink, I saw that Amy had linked a bathing suit that looked almost exact to the expensive one, but for only $25! I ordered it yesterday, so we’ll see how it looks when it gets in the mail!

(splurge) crochet bikini top + bottom // (the look for less) crochet bikini

// Aztec //

Aztec always finds its way back into style around spring and summer. This season we will be seeing aztec everywhere swim wear, clothing and accessories.

dress // tribal print high neck bathing suit top

// Fringe is still in //

Fringe is here to stay, y’all. I’m obsessed with this fringed suede skirt. It’s the perfect length and I love how the fringe is at the bottom, not covering the whole skirt. Fringe purses are super duper cute and great to make an outfit more casual and bohemian.

What are some trends you’re looking forward to this spring? Let me know in the comments.

Much love y’all!
