On My Radar | April

Posted in Beauty, Fashion, Lifestyle
on 04/24/2016

On my radar for this crazy month of April is a mix of some beauty, fashion and fun. I’ve really been all over the place this month trying so many new things. I cannot think about April being almost over and May coming up right around the corner…. Summer come quick, but not too quick! Keep reading to find out what the heck I’ve been obsessed with this month.

// sam edelman ervan gladiator sandals //

I’d be lying if I told you I haven’t been obsessed with these sandals for the past two months. Every time I see them mentioned on a blog, boutique or magazine I die a little inside. I am in love with the cork sole and the studded exterior. I could see myself wearing these with dresses, shorts, skirts, and even jeans. Eventually these babes will be mine!!

// head and shoulders lavender shampoo + conditioner //

As a someone who is extremely impatient, I so frequently get tired of my shampoo and conditioner. I recently switched to this one after noticing how dry my scalp was. I love the smell and it’s really helped me curb my dry scalp. Would recommend this!

// covergirl the super sizer mascara //

I am soo dang particular about mascara, so often times I end up trying quite a few before I find one I like. My friend Catherine recommended this one to me and her lashes are always bomb so I picked it up from Walgreens one day. Can I just say…. DAMN. I love this mascara – the formula is perfect and does exactly what I want (volume and length) and the black color is striking!

// i like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful and so unaware of it (the 1975’s second album) //

One of my favorite bands recently released their new album and I’ve been LISTENING NONSTOP!! I’m not even kidding y’all. The whole album has an 80’s sound and it is amazing. Some of my faves are “This must be my dream” (I listen at least four times a day), “The sound” (so catchy), and “Lostmyhead.” I’ll link the album on spotify right here.

// off the shoulder tops //

Festival season is here and I have seen this off the shoulder trend EVERYWHERE. I am on the hunt for some affordable off the shoulder tops to wear this summer. I linked some I like a lot below.

// luster now! instant whitening toothpaste //

After a random trip to Walmart in need of some toothpaste, I walked away with this. It promises whiter teeth after every brushing. I’ve been seeing some results from it, and I’m happy about that. Ya girl drinks too much coffee (caramel macchiato erryday) so I’m always concerned about yellowing teeth. I would recommend for the price!

// alex and and charm bracelet //

I have one alex and ani bracelet and I want to get a few more so I can stack them with my watch. I love gold jewelry, so I’m leaning towards an Alpha Phi bangle so I can rep everywhere I go.

// saint laurent espadrille wedge sandal //

The espadrille is back and better than ever y’all. This year especially, I have been super into shoes. I love these for the spring and summer to pair with a dress or some shorts. They are so stinking cute. The only downside? The $500 price tag. I guess I’ll need to start saving or find a cheaper alternative… :/

Colorblockin’ | LGIP OOTD

Hello my loves! This weekend I headed to a huge event in NOLA, Hogs for the Cause – which is a charity BBQ competition benefitting pediatric brain cancer. My dad has a team that cooks in the competition every year! So I decided to head on out there and support him and sample the amazing food.

Since it had rained so heavily before, the entire NOLA City Park was flooded and super duper muddy. I wore my Hunter boots and man am I glad that I did! It was a bit windy too so I decided on a long sleeve Piko top and some flowy shorts. My Longchamp was perfect because it’s huge and is great to sling around (if it gets dirty I can just wash it – it’s the best). I added a statement necklace from Forever 21 and that topped it off! This outfit ended up being an unintentional color block – but I loved the outcome!

I enjoyed getting to see each teams take on the different categories of the competition. I tried some interesting foods: pork cracklins with queso, pork balls (my dad’s submission), and green chile frito pie (made with pork) to name a few. My friend Cat (and future roomie) joined me for the trip and we got to hang out with my twin sister (check out the third picture).

An ode to Shop RiffRaff… | LGIP Blabbers

Posted in Fashion, Lifestyle
on 03/09/2016

Happy Wednesday, my lovelies! I am so ready to be done with this week, and get onto the week from hell (aka four tests the week before Spring break- send prayers ASAP). I thought I would branch out of my usual OOTD posts, and life updates to take a moment to reflect on a brand I am a huge fan of- Shop RiffRaff.

Shop RiffRaff is a brand I admire because they have been able to utilize social media in such an effective way. ShopRiff Raff is a growing small chain of boutiques that are spread across the Southern US. They currently have two locations and a successful online website.

What RiffRaff does so well that inspires my social media is they are so approachable. There’s a few different instagrams that RiffRaff holds- one being their “behind the scenes instagram” dubbed @riffrafhq. This instagram is my fave because I love the fact that customers can get to know the faces behind the website, as well as have a peak into the creative process.

 RifRaff also holds another account titled @shopriffraff for their product photos, promotions and that sort of thing. They use their social media in such an affective way by posting multiple times a day with lots of different product and varying posts (some are just plain photos of a product on a model, and some take the product into more of a real life setting- like the top photo).

My only critique for RiffRaff is that they utilize all forms of social media, including Facebook. I think Facebook has such a wide range of audiences, using it regularly can be helpful in boosting sales.

Here are some of my current faves from RiffRaff right now…

// la state love tee // show me your mumu kylie mini dress – steel magnolia // #wcw stickers // lace up dress (I’m all about lace up everything) // raw edge distressed jeans // chunky spiked + jeweled necklace //

PS: this post was for one of my Mass Comm classes! Let’s go #manshipdigitalbrands!!

Blue jeans + a baseball hat | LGIP OOTD

Hey hey friends! This weekend consisted of a whole lot of studying and romping around NOLA (I had to take a study break a some point- right?). Y’all know how much I love to head to NOLA for the day (check out my other NOLA post here). The weather was so beautiful this weekend, I was just happy to be outside enjoying the sunshine!

glasses // striped shirt {similar} // distressed jeans // mk tortoise sport watch // fitbit flex // leather tote // kendra scott elisa necklace // alpha phi bar necklace // hat // ray bans

Disclaimer – I’m in LOVE with these glasses from Warby Parker. I’ll be doing a post on them very very soon! In the meantime, check them out here.

Blue on blue, with a pop of red – this outfit was inspired by that classic all American look. I’ve always loved the relaxed feel of a baseball hat with some blue jeans and chucks. My outfit is actually all brought to you by Old Navy. I low-key still love them (fun fact: I worked there for two years). These jeans are my literal only pair that I wear because they are perfection. I’ll give y’all a link up top, but seriously check them out! I saw this shirt online and loved the monochromatic stripes as well as the subtle peplum in the back. On top of it all, I added my Alpha Phi hat (GEAUX APHI!) and some Ray Bans (y’all are probably tired of hearing me talk about sunglasses at this point). I’m carrying my faux leather tote (see another post with it here) and wearing some white low top Chucks. It can’t get any more comfortable than this.

Here’s a little Monday Motivation for my darling readers. Kick this week’s butt! :)

Swooning over this Spring | LGIP Spring 2016 Trends

Posted in Fashion
on 02/26/2016

Things normally work out so that by the point its mid winter, I’m already wanting Spring. It’s only February, and living in Louisiana, our weather is anything but predictable, so you never actually know when Spring will grace us with its presence. Nonetheless, I am ready for things to warm up. Next month is spring break, and easter- so it’s time to whip out some bathing suits, sundresses, and of course- Jack Rogers (look at my summer posts and you will quickly learn my OBSESSION with Jacks). I’ve been peaking on a whole bunch of websites- although sadly I cannot purchase much (broke college student) and have found quite a few trends I think will show up on the fashion scene this spring.

spring trends-1-lgip

// Get your tassel on //

Honestly, I’m always a huge fan of tassels. They are something that I think is so fun and a great way to jazz up your stack. I own a few tassel bracelets from Bauble bar (see my post on them here), and I plan to be purchasing some more so I can stack those babies up! The multicolored beaded ones are my faves as of right now. Tassels can also be done in necklaces, as well as earrings. If you’re looking for a statement, go no further tassels it is!

tassel earrings // tassel bracelet with multicolored beads // long tassel necklace // tassel cross body

// Snakeskin anything //

Snakeskin has made its comeback! You can find it in anything from purses, skirts, dresses, pants (MuMu has an adorable snakeskin line).

snakskin lace up sandals // snakskin printed maxi // snakeskin printed shift // snakeskin miller sandals

// Lace em up //

Gladiator sandals were all the rage last spring/summer, and honestly I feel like they are a classic. Sam Edelman has a great line of lace-up gladiators, they even come in snakeskin, black and classic camel. I love a lace up sandal with a basic denim short and tee for a casual day. If you’re looking to dress up an outfit, chunky lace up heels are perfect. They add a little bit of pizzazz!

chunky heeled lace up // lace up flat sandals //suede lace up heels // printed lace up flat sandals

// Black and white //

Let’s be real- when is black and white not in style? This spring season I’m seeing lots of fun black and white prints. Black and white is a great base to accessorize off of. Throw on some pops of color in your shoes, or even in some jewelry.

printed 60s inspired dress // aztec skirt // shorts

// Crochet swimwear //

I’ve seen endless repins of this crochet bathing suit on Pinterest. It’s the perfect combo of that boho vibe and some bright colors. While browsing I Believe in Pink, I saw that Amy had linked a bathing suit that looked almost exact to the expensive one, but for only $25! I ordered it yesterday, so we’ll see how it looks when it gets in the mail!

(splurge) crochet bikini top + bottom // (the look for less) crochet bikini

// Aztec //

Aztec always finds its way back into style around spring and summer. This season we will be seeing aztec everywhere swim wear, clothing and accessories.

dress // tribal print high neck bathing suit top

// Fringe is still in //

Fringe is here to stay, y’all. I’m obsessed with this fringed suede skirt. It’s the perfect length and I love how the fringe is at the bottom, not covering the whole skirt. Fringe purses are super duper cute and great to make an outfit more casual and bohemian.

What are some trends you’re looking forward to this spring? Let me know in the comments.

Much love y’all!

I’m feelin’ 19 | Birthday OOTD

Posted in Fashion
on 01/24/2016

Happy Birthday to me! :) I had such a fantastic day yesterday with my friends and family. We ended up heading into NOLA for the day and met my Mom, Bruce and twin sister Reagan. We all ate lunch at Domenica in the Roosevelt Hotel. I split a Prosciutto pizza and some Squid pasta (sounds weird but soo yummy). We went to eat some desert in the Roosevelt after and to take some pictures of the whole group. Then my parents and Reagan headed back to Mandeville and the rest of us went to the Riverwalk. I literally hadn’t been there since seventh grade so it had changed a lot lol. We walked around and I ended up “treating myself” (I love Parks and Rec but mostly Tom Haverford) to a pair of Ray Bans on the discounted rack. They had a “defect” in them so they were on sale for $99! I normally NEVER pay full price for sunglasses so it worked out well! I am really into the brown lens with the black frame- I had never seen them before!

Once we left NOLA, we got some pizza (twice in one day I know) and then went out in Baton Rouge and it was such a great time! Thanks to my friends and family for making my birthday so special, I love each and every one of you!

Here’s some pictures of my outfit for y’all to see!

J Crew Waxed Jacket // J Crew Gigi Pants // We The Free Thermal // J Crew Vest // Tory Burch Boots // Ray Bans // Mini MAC // MK Sport Watch // Bauble Bar Tassel Bracelet

The weather yesterday was such a bummer because it was freezing. It’s been pretty cold here in Louisiana for the past few weeks… I’m not sure if I like it or not. For warmth, I went for layers. I borrowed this thermal turtleneck from Maddie, and I am in LOVE with it. It looks so cute with a vest on or even to wear it on its own with a long necklace. Over that, I layered my J Crew Excursion vest (shocker there.. Told y’all I was obsessed with vests). To top off my top half, I wore my J Crew Waxed Jacket. I talked about how much I love this piece in my winter essentials post so you can click for more deets. For pants, I chose my J Crew Gigi pants. These are seriously the freaking best. They’re a step up from leggings because they have stitching/piping on the back of the leg and they zip in addition to being a super stretchy and thick material.

To top off my outfit I wore my Tory Burch riding boots, and I carried my Mini MAC (fave crossbody EVER). For accessories, I wore my usual MK Sport Watch as well as my tassel cuff from Bauble Bar. Like I mentioned earlier in this post, I picked up a new pair of Ray Bans and I decided to wear them too!

What do y’all do for your birthday? Let me know in the comments below! Until Wednesday..

Winter essentials for a winter in Southern Louisiana

Posted in Fashion
on 01/10/2016

Since it’s FINALLY decided to get cold here in Southern Louisiana, I’ve had to break out some of my winter essentials for wear. I tend to gravitate towards the same basic pieces and then I’ll add some color with accessories scarves, jewelry, or even lip color. Well, let’s get to it y’all! Here are some of my winter essentials for this South Louisiana weather…

so-la-winter-essentials-1-lgip

Puffer Vest // Bean Boots // Ray Bans // Field Jacket // Chunky Scarf // Hunter Boots

// Puffer Vest //

Seriously one of my all-time favorite pieces ever. I have quite a few vests in multiple colors, so I really could throw this baby on over any outfit. It’s perfect for a day when it’s not exactly cold enough for a jacket, or even when it get’s cold I’ll wear it underneath a jacket for some more warmth. I’ve styled one of my favorite vests, the J. Crew Factory herringbone quilted vest here.

// Bean Boots //

After many seasons of lusting over these, I bit the bullet and got a pair last year. My sweet Mama is actually Maine born-and-raised so she helped me with the sizing since she knows her stuff (you should order a size down from your normal size). I love breaking these out in the winter time with some warm knit socks over leggings or even jeans. They are a super versatile shoe that can be worn in cold or even wet weather.

// Ray Bans //

In my book, a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses is an essential ALWAYS. I carry at least one pair around with me at all times. These aviators with green flash lenses are perfect to add a pop of color to my outfit. See how I wear them in the winter time here, here, and here.

// Field Jacket //

I love this jacket to layer over a vest or even to throw on over a simple top. It’s waxed so it’s super structured but it’s such a classic look. I scored it on eBay for around $50 with the tags and everything, so I love showing off this great find.

// Chunky Scarf //

Last season, I picked this up in white and black from Old Navy. I love adding a chunky knit scarf to any outfit to warm it up, or even to make it a little more casual. These scarves come in so many different colors, you’ll be able to find one to match any outfit.

// Hunter Boots //

I featured these in my Wednesday post this week. I normally always pair them with something neutral on top since they are such a show stopper. Wearing some super thick, knit socks is always a must with these bad boys to ensure my feet keep warm. Perfect for cold and/or wet weather just like my Bean Boots!

What are your winter essentials for where you live?
