Seasons of waiting aren’t always a bad thing + here’s why…

So it’s the end of March (April is so close I can taste it) and I’m stuck in this awkward phase. It’s somewhere between: I’m a college student who just wants to have her fun and the fear of being an adult is on the horizon. May will bring graduation, and along with it, the loss of a routine I’ve been living for my entire life. School, summer, and then school… AGAIN. The thought that this routine would have to break at some point has crossed my mind but I like to push it to the back burner. After graduation, things will never be the same. For the past 22 years, the idea that someday I would have to become an adult seemed just so distant. Well, not anymore! So now, we wait. Wait for what? Wait to be scared?

After doing all of this hard thinking (which I then rewarded myself for with some Netflix), I came to a conclusion.

Waiting for something to happen: whether it be a job, boy to come along, the right time to move, change your hair color, reinvent yourself can become a good thing if you let it.

There is purpose in this season of waiting. I’ve become a firm believer that things happen for a reason. People are put in your life for a reason. Everything has it’s purpose. That’s the piece to the puzzle I was searching for before. Life is about to come and hit me like a ton of bricks so so so soon, but this “waiting game” should not pass without my acknowledging it’s purpose. The “waiting game” should not distract me from living life. IT’S HAPPENING ALL AROUND ME.

Be grateful for the between season. I personally have found so much joy in the nostalgia of it all. Looking back on my past four years of college with all the crazy late nights, early mornings, and everything in between has been something so so special. It’s not just the nostalgia that I’ve relished in, but the fact that my life will never be the way it is right now. I will never be able to graduate collage again, to share all of these funny college memories with my friends like going out until 2am at our college bars, eating as much Chick-Fil-A as our stomachs can hold, and laughing until we cry. Bittersweet is probably the best way to describe it. While enjoying this season I’m in, thoughts of the future continue to creep in.

Basically what I’m trying to say is, don’t let the “waiting game” keep you from living your life. Don’t wait of the next big thing to come along and miss the amazing things happening in front of you! Challenge yourself to make those in between moments count. Find the joy in the little moments, even though they may not feel like much at the time, you’ll appreciate them so much more when you’re through with all of it.

UNTIL NEXT TIME, LOVE YOU PEOPLE IMMENSELY.

Styling fuzzy slides into fall

HELLLER MY GALS!

Happy September 13. Hope all of y’all are having a great week/month/year so far. It’s that weird time of year, especially down here in South Louisiana where it’s still 90 degrees outside and raining everyday? Yeah, our weather is extremely bi-polar which does not lend itself easily to dressing for “fall.” My favorite way to get into the fall spirit is to incorporate transition pieces into my summer basics for a fall vibe.

FUZZY SLIDES. NEED I SAY MORE?

What I used to honestly DESPISE as a trend has finally won me over in the form of this embellished slide from Target. Yes y’all, you heard me right. Target with alll the deals (y’all know I am a HUGE fan). But back to the slides. I’ve been living in them the past week. Dresses, jeans, skirts – you name it and it’ll probably look amaze with these! This is the only way for this southern Louisiana girl to get her fur fix while it’s still so warm out. Here’s all my favorite fuzzy slides for the fall linked for y’all below!

hat (sold out) // bracelets // dress // fuzzy slides // purse (sold out)

We have to chat about this dress. It’s from one of my all-time fave brands and it’s under $55! Lately I’ve been all about the faux-leopard print and I love how it’s incorporated into the flowers on this shift. Orange, green, black and cream are such great colors to take into fall with you. I would so rock this dress in the summer with more white-toned accessories to lighten it up. Since I was going for a darker vibe, I opted for black to make everything pop.

1 simple way to style winter pieces into spring

Posted in Fashion

It’s gettin hot over here. I know the rest of the country probably isn’t experiencing this spring warmth that us Southerners are having, but hey I am here for it. This awkward transition season always has me questioning what’s “ok” for me to wear.. jeans? Yeah I guess so. White? Obvi (I never follow that rule because white is my favorite color). Straw wedges? Hmmmmmm. Velvet tops? EH idk. Today I’m gonna break a few rules and look good while doin em.

Let me just start with an update on my life: I am broke and I am a shopaholic. There’s too many good sales going on right now for amazing winter pieces I can stock up on for next year and waayyy too many beautiful spring styles coming out. I can’t help myself! When I laid my eyes on these beautiful, pink, straw wedges I knew I had to have them. I’ll admit, they’re pricey but so worth it! If you wanna snag last years colors here’s a few on sale in limited sizes (here, here and here).

I wanted to do something a little fun with this outfit so I paired a velvet cami (which I am in love with btw please go get yourself one you will wear it ALL THE TIME), my favorite distressed jeans (on sale right now), and a statement belt. The end result: a wintery/springy basic but super put together look.

Velvet camis go with almost anything! You could easily style this with some fun printed pants and platforms, a simple skirt, or even white jeans to bring it into spring.

Is there any winter pieces into your closet you wish that you could style into the spring? Comment down below and let’s figure out some new ways to rock em!

How to transition your wardrobe into fall like a pro | The military jacket

To all my Southern gals, I feel you. While everyone else is buying sweaters and boots and leggings and drinking PSLs (can you believe I’ve never had one of those) we’re still over here braving the heat. Yeah, yesterday it was 80 degrees over here in Louisiana (cue the ugh).
I’m getting pumped for fall and wanting to incorporate some fall pieces into my wardrobe but it’s a real ordeal let me tell ya.
So I figured I’d start a little series. It’ll feature three key pieces you need for fall and I’ll show ya how to transition them. With this heat it’s tough, but we’ll figure it out! Let’s get into part one of three!

fun brunette tee (MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SHIRT EVER) // military jacket (a few seasons ago, but I’m linking similar) // jean shorts // platform sneakers // puff ball earrings // sunglasses // cross body bag

I wish y’all could’ve seen me shooting this #ootd I was DRIPPING in sweat. This heat is not funny y’all. It’s already nearing the end of September and I just wish we could get some sort of chill in the air… wishful thinking I know.

Given the heat, I decided to pair a pretty summery/warm weather outfit with a military jacket for some #fallfeels. The boxy military jacket is such a strong contrast to my fun earrings and sunglasses but somehow it works. I threw on my favorite tee-shirt of all time under it and some jean shorts (here we go again). My Superegas are making their debut on LGIP finally!! I had been wanting to scoop a pair for so long and I recently caved in. I absolutely love them. I’m still breaking them in, but I have a feeling they’ll be super-duper comfy once I do.

If you’re not into the whole shorts thing, I would pair this jacket with a skirt and tee combo too.

Key piece: the military jacket

The military jacket is a staple in my closet. I wear it with literally anything and everything. It’s so amazing to layer with other pieces. When the temps drop (not much in Southern LA but hey), I’ll layer a vest underneath this bad boy for extra warmth! Price points vary, but I am sure you will be able to find a jacket in your price range. I’m going to link a bunch of options below for y’all! Get yourself one — I know you will wear the heck out of it.

find your perfect jacket

xoxo
