I finally was able to take a real break this week and I always love the idea of playing tourist in my own city for fun. Living in Baton Rouge, we don’t get to go to NOLA as much as I did in high school since it’s not the quickest trip. When I’m home, I make it a point to head into the city. It’s one of my favorite places in the world, and hopefully someday I’ll be able to live there.

Maddie, Zach and I went Uptown to Magazine Street, Oak Street and St. Charles to do a little exploring and picture taking. The weather has been super duper bi-polar this winter, and it was surprisingly actually pretty chilly. I’m one of those people who wouldn’t dare to ruin an outfit with some chunky layers just to keep warm, so of course I had to stay warm in style.

Maddie and I both chose to rock our Hunters (which we LUURRVE) and some jeans. We are super into ripped jeans, especially in this medium wash. I opted for a monochromatic top half featuring a chunky oatmeal colored knit sweater from Madewell (which I borrowed from Maddie #blessed), and my cream quilted puffer vest from J Crew. Maddie is sporting a pale pale blue colored basic tee from Urban and for warmth she added an olive army-inspired jacket and chunky scarf.

I took a few shots of Zach just to show y’all how much he was SLAYING. There are so many things I could say about Zach, but really I’ll just leave it at the fact that he used to wear ugly tennis shoes and jeans… Look at him now. Started from the bottom now he’s here. Zach doesn’t get cold easily so he opted for some short navy shorts with a belt, basic white tee and denim jacket. His urban, yet preppy look wasn’t complete without a Vineyard Vines hat and some Adidas Stan Smiths.

How adorable is this black and white look featuring my favorite fall/winter piece a vest? I have been known to be vest obsessed. I love a simple outfit with a vest as a pop. This herringbone one from J Crew factory took me FORVER to snag.

I paired it with this adorable little suede swing skirt with button detail, and a basic long sleeve tee. I love the simplistic look of this black and white outfit. I finished things off with my Mini MAC and black booties.

On a side note, how can I just say how excited I am for Christmas? I can’t wait to spend time with my family and enjoy some quality food!

Nordstrom Boot Sale | LGIP Picks

Riding Boot // Sam Edelman Penny Boot

I always love a good pair of riding boots. You can pair them with anything- jeans, leggings, a dress, literally anything. This Sam Edelman pair is so sleek and I love the color options offered (a grey, deep chocolate brown and a chestnut).

Bootie with Fringe // Vince Camuto Harlin Fringe Bootie

Fringe is all the rage this season! These booties are too cute. Fringe would be the perfect addition to any outfit that needs a little spicing up!! This neutral color matches with anything (especially purple and gold).

Open Toed Bootie // Dolce Vita Port Open Toe Bootie

Dolce Vita makes THE BEST open-toed booties. There was a pair from last year that I went on a man hunt for in September. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find them anywhere! These are the closet match I was able to find. I’m loving the zipper detail and this pale nude color makes me swoon.

Sleek Bootie // Sam Edelman Reyes Bootie

I have seen quite a few bloggers I follow on Instagram sporting sleek booties similar to these. I loooove the rounded toe these have. I’d pair them with an adorable pair of flair jeans for a 60’s-70’s vibe.

Bootie With Zipper Detail // Dolce Vita Highlander Bootie

Every girl needs a solid pair of black booties to wear with anything and everything. Checkout the zipper detail on these (do y’all see a theme? I really love zippers this season). My pair of black booties that I currently own are my absolute go-to for any outfit.

Have any of y’all shopped the Nordstrom boot sale? If so, what are your picks?

My fall uniform usually consists of a layers- a sweater with a button up under and jeans with flats or boots. It’s just so easy to throw on and go! I’m sure y’all will be seeing many posts similar to this in the future (just a warning).

I absolutely love a good pair of distressed jeans. These are perfect because they’ve got just the right amount of distress. It adds a little bit of a twist to this mostly classic and preppy look. The sweater I’m wearing is from Gap (last season) and I layered it with a popover from Old Navy. The great thing about a good neutral sweater is you can do any color/patterned button up/popover under it. Since it wasn’t too cold I paired this look with my holy grail Tory flats. Side Note: how many of you have the new Revas? Are they as comfortable as the old ones since they don’t have a elastic back? My Longchamp Le Pliage tote and Ray Ban aviators tops off this easy breezy fall look.

What’s your fall uniform?

Sweater Weather

It drops 7 degrees in South Louisiana and we all break out the sweaters. I’ve been waiting with bated breath for fall to arrive and bring with it cooler weather, warm coffee drinks (PSL anyone?), and layers upon layers.

In anticipation for the upcoming weather, I’ve been browsing around for some sweaters. This season I’m super into chunky knits, turtlenecks, and ponchos. I cannot wait to layer my J. Crew puffer vests with some chunky sweaters. I picked out a few I’m digging- including a textured sweater, chunky cable knit turtleneck in the most beautiful coffee and cream color, long light weight poncho to throw on over a solid long sleeve tee or even to wear alone as a statement piece, and the ever so classic v-neck sweater to pair with jeans and boots.

I’m too excited to break out my jeans, riding boots and sweaters, so until then, I’ll be crushing on these babes online. A girl can only dream, huh?

What are you most looking forward to this fall?

Well, when you live in a dorm, you’ve gotta improvise sometimes. That’s exactly what I did with this outfit of the day I wanted to share with y’all! We had our first formal chapter meeting yesterday whee! I love all of the tradition and values that come with being an Alpha Phi. This lil ensemble is what I wore to formal chapter. The background for my impromptu photoshoot is unfortunately none other than LSU’s Miller Hall hallway (and yes I am aware that it looks like an insane asylum. I was going for the vintage look).

I love the floral pattern on this dress– it reminds me of fall and cool weather and a little bit like a that old floral couch at your grandma’s house. Retro is in y’all! I added some chic chunky black heels from Target since we were required to wear heels. Seriously, go get yourself a pair of these- they are the cutest! Per usual, my stack consists of my MK watch and some bracelets, which depend on what I’m feeling that day, but yesterday I went for the elephant bracelet from Bauble Bar (check out my post on it here) and kept things simple. I have also recently started to layer my necklaces. I had two on- one Kendra Scott necklace and the other was an Alpha Phi necklace my biggie gave me (shoutout if you’re reading this)! My Mini MAC completed the look (what’s new?).

What other kinds of posts do y’all want to see?

And if you’re Greek, what do you wear to formal chapter meetings?

Saturday down south: Casual Gameday Attire

Posted in Fashion

Saturday-Down-South-1

If you live in the south and even if you don’t, I’m sure you’re well aware that we southern women love us some football. Not just the game of football, but the act of getting all dressed up for game day and going tailgating pre-game. This weekend I had my first experience of the act of tailgating at LSU. The Parade Grounds are flooded with tents, filled with swarms of people- all decked out in their purple, gold, black and white. Sorority girls wear their buttons and plaster “Sorority name here loves the tigers!” stickers onto boys. It’s hard to describe, but if you’ve tailgated at an SEC school, you’ll certainly understand where I’m coming from when I say it is sheer madness.

Of course, there’s always a question of what to wear for game days. Some girls where dresses, while some opt for shorts and a simple shirt. This weekend, I decided to go more casual and sport some distressed denim shorts and a swing tank complete with some accessories and my Alpha Phi button (A Phi loves the tigers!!). The whole look was effortless and certainly was perfect for the extreme heat I experienced.

// The Breakdown //

Articles of Society Distressed shorts // Free People Swing Tank {similar} // Forever 21 Strappy Bralette {similar} // Druzy Arrowhead Necklace (I made myself) // Sideways Cross Necklace // Mini MAC Crossbody Bag // Ray Ban Mirrored Aviator Sunglasses // Copper Jack Rogers Sandals

Pictured with me are my friends Maddie and Camille. The two of them dressed up a bit more and did dresses with boots.

The game was overall a flop. LSU literally played for five minutes and then we had a rain delay due to lightening and then everyone left due to the dark dark clouds. I had to walk all the way across campus in a terrential downpour with no umbrella or rain jacket. That was an experience I’ll definitely remember!!

I hope to continue this little Saturday Down South Series and give y’all some game day outfit ideas cause I know I’ll sure need some from y’all. Let me know what y’all think in the comments below. Did you enjoy this post? What would you wear to an LSU game?

My Stack | Best Baubles for under $45

Posted in Fashion
on 08/12/2015

Due to the fact that I’m moving into my dorm this Saturday, I’ve been so busy this week with packing and running errands to get ready for my dorm. I’m so excited about school! Big changes are coming up. But, I regress. Now onto the post.

Baubles and Baubles and Baubles oh my! I recently ordered the Bauble Bar Cape Town Build Your Own Stack. There was a promo code which took 30% off my order, so each bracelet ended up being around $8. I would’ve been crazy to pass that up! I’m always looking for statement pieces to add to my collection. If you’re in the market for some high quality fashion jewelry, check out Bauble Bar!

Here’s a peek at my order.
