Well, when you live in a dorm, you’ve gotta improvise sometimes. That’s exactly what I did with this outfit of the day I wanted to share with y’all! We had our first formal chapter meeting yesterday whee! I love all of the tradition and values that come with being an Alpha Phi. This lil ensemble is what I wore to formal chapter. The background for my impromptu photoshoot is unfortunately none other than LSU’s Miller Hall hallway (and yes I am aware that it looks like an insane asylum. I was going for the vintage look).

I love the floral pattern on this dress– it reminds me of fall and cool weather and a little bit like a that old floral couch at your grandma’s house. Retro is in y’all! I added some chic chunky black heels from Target since we were required to wear heels. Seriously, go get yourself a pair of these- they are the cutest! Per usual, my stack consists of my MK watch and some bracelets, which depend on what I’m feeling that day, but yesterday I went for the elephant bracelet from Bauble Bar (check out my post on it here) and kept things simple. I have also recently started to layer my necklaces. I had two on- one Kendra Scott necklace and the other was an Alpha Phi necklace my biggie gave me (shoutout if you’re reading this)! My Mini MAC completed the look (what’s new?).

What other kinds of posts do y’all want to see?

And if you’re Greek, what do you wear to formal chapter meetings?

Treat Yo Self: Sunday Night Edition

Posted in Beauty

treat-yoself-sunday-1-lgip

After a long week, we all need some R-and-R. Sundays are the absolute perfect day to do so! I love winding down with some tea and a quick mini facial to prep me for the week.

// Face Mask //

I start off with one of my all time favorite masks for acne-prone, oily skin the Formula 10.0.6 Deep Down Detox Ultra-Cleansing Mud Mask. I leave this one on until it is dry and then I take it off with a steaming hot wash cloth. I didn’t include this in the picture, but if my skin is being super bad, I’ll do a second mask. Right now, I love the Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask. It’s kind of a grainy, mushy texture and it doesn’t dry so I just time this one for a about ten minutes and take it off the same with a steaming hot wash cloth.

// Serum, Toner, etc //

I followed up my masks with my favorite Clinique Clarifying lotion on a cotton pad and then the Bliss Peeling groovy facial serum. For moisturizer, I’ll do one of two options- the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (if my skin isn’t feeling too dry) or the Somme Skin Reset Night Cream (which is super thick and good for my skin when I need some hydration). As for a spot treatment, I love the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. I put it on any spots and they are visibly better in the morning!

// Lips //

I looove a good lip scrub. Last time I went to LUSH, they just so happened to have Mint Julip lip scrub and I snagged it right then and there with no questions asked! It is amazing for sloughing off dead skin cells (as gross as that sounds). I follow that with my holy grail lip balm, the Rosebud Salve! I just picked up a new tin from Urban the other day and honestly words cannot contain my excitement!

What do y’all like to do on Sunday nights to get yourself ready for the week?

TGIF! My go-to going out makeup look

Posted in Beauty
on 09/11/2015

tgif-makeup-1

TGIF y’all! In honor of the weekend, I decided to share with y’all what my go to going-out face looks like. It consists of a full coverage base and a neutral smokey eye.

// Base //

I start off with the L’Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Primer. It’s got a whipped texture that I love. I focus this mainly on my t-zone because that’s where I get the most oily. I follow it with my NAKED skin foundation in the shade 4.0. I mix up how I apply this so sometimes it’s with my damp Beauty Blender, sometimes with my kabuki foundation brush from Sigma or sometimes with my Real Techniques foundation brush. I follow that with Bare Minerals warmth as my bronzer and add my Nars Blush in Deep Throat.

// Eyes //

I try and prime my eyes if I can remember, but I usually always make sure I get foundation over my eyelids just as some sort of base. My eyeshadow differs from night to night but I always use my NAKED palette. Some of my favorite combos are: Sin on the lid and Naked in the crease, Half Baked on the lid and Naked in the crease, or Toasted on the lid and Buck in the crease. I always add some thick liner to top it off. My favorite is the NYX felt tip eyeliner. As for mascara, I love anything for volume. My current favorite is Covergirl Flamed Out.

// Brows //

You can never neglect the brows, y’all. I always start by brushing mine out with a spoolie and then I apply my Anastasia brow powder duo and fill my brows in. I perfect them afterwards by brushing them out again and then I sometimes put some hairspray on my spoolie and brush them to set them in place all night.

// Lips //

I love a pop of color on my lips since my face and eyes are normally pretty neutral. My favorite lip products right now are Revlon Colorburst Balm + Stain in Crush, and the Revlon lip butters in Candy Apple and Lollipop.

What’s your go-to going out makeup look?

Saturday down south: Casual Gameday Attire

Saturday-Down-South-1

If you live in the south and even if you don’t, I’m sure you’re well aware that we southern women love us some football. Not just the game of football, but the act of getting all dressed up for game day and going tailgating pre-game. This weekend I had my first experience of the act of tailgating at LSU. The Parade Grounds are flooded with tents, filled with swarms of people- all decked out in their purple, gold, black and white. Sorority girls wear their buttons and plaster “Sorority name here loves the tigers!” stickers onto boys. It’s hard to describe, but if you’ve tailgated at an SEC school, you’ll certainly understand where I’m coming from when I say it is sheer madness.

Of course, there’s always a question of what to wear for game days. Some girls where dresses, while some opt for shorts and a simple shirt. This weekend, I decided to go more casual and sport some distressed denim shorts and a swing tank complete with some accessories and my Alpha Phi button (A Phi loves the tigers!!). The whole look was effortless and certainly was perfect for the extreme heat I experienced.

// The Breakdown //

Articles of Society Distressed shorts // Free People Swing Tank {similar} // Forever 21 Strappy Bralette {similar} // Druzy Arrowhead Necklace (I made myself) // Sideways Cross Necklace // Mini MAC Crossbody Bag // Ray Ban Mirrored Aviator Sunglasses // Copper Jack Rogers Sandals

Pictured with me are my friends Maddie and Camille. The two of them dressed up a bit more and did dresses with boots.

The game was overall a flop. LSU literally played for five minutes and then we had a rain delay due to lightening and then everyone left due to the dark dark clouds. I had to walk all the way across campus in a terrential downpour with no umbrella or rain jacket. That was an experience I’ll definitely remember!!

I hope to continue this little Saturday Down South Series and give y’all some game day outfit ideas cause I know I’ll sure need some from y’all. Let me know what y’all think in the comments below. Did you enjoy this post? What would you wear to an LSU game?

What’s it’s like the first week of being a college freshman at an SEC school

week-one-college-freshman-1-lgip

Well y’all I apologize for the lack of posts this past week. I could go on and on about how I was so busy blah, blah, blah, but I’m sure y’all don’t wanna hear it. In case you aren’t sure what’s going on in my life, here’s a quick recap: I moved into my freshman dorm at LSU last week. The day after I started a week of hell known as rush (it’s a HUGE deal here y’all). That next Saturday I got my bid and ran home. This week I started college classes, and I’m exhausted everyday because of how far I have to walk (6 miles on Tuesday and Thursday… no thanks). I figured I’d give y’all a little wrap up of how my first week as a college freshman is going right now!

Dorm Life //

Honestly I knew where I would be living this year was not the nicest, nor the cleanest but that the experience would be what sets it apart. I’m living in the only all girls hall on campus, which is so nice because of it’s location, but it’s aesthetic is just a no. My froomie and I have attempted to spice up our lovely cinderblock walls and tile floors, but we’ve still got a ways to go to make this place feel like home. (Pictures soon to come!) Using the hall bath is something I’ve gotten used to this past week, but I definitely miss being able to shower WITHOUT SHOES ON. Ah, it’s the simple things that can make me happy now.

Rush Week //

I had been told about rush week, but I never in a million years expected it to be what it was. You wait in line for your parties and all of the sudden the door swings open and 300 gorgeous faces are bouncing and clapping welcoming you into their home and sisterhood. It’s so hard to describe the whole process to someone who has not been through it. Throughout the week, I walked into houses I did not like/feel comfortable in and some houses where I felt safe and welcomed immediately. By preference round, I has three houses- two which I really liked and one which I was head over heels for. On Bid Day, my stomach was in knots, I felt like something was up. When I saw my bid, I was in shock. The house that I loved so much and had cried my eyes out to the night before was not listed. All of the other girls in my group, ran screaming and smiling to their new homes while I was standing there in shock. I talked to my Gamma Chi and she asked me if I’d be willing to try it out for today- I knew this was my one and only shot at Greek Life, so I agreed to. Although I don’t know many girls yet- I am positive I was put in that house for a reason. Although I did not get my first choice, I can say I ended up where I needed to be.

College Classes //

Enter broke college kid. People always joked about selling their organs to pay for textbooks and I used to laugh and think they were a little odd. But man, it’s crazy how much textbooks can really cost you. $500 later and I now know how it feels to watch an entire paycheck or two go out the window for some textbooks. Besides textbooks, my classes are fine. It’s different than high school and it honestly doesn’t even feel like I’m in school yet (I guess because I don’t have a lot of homework or anything yet). I’ll be posting some school organization stuff soon for y’all.

I’m so excited to share more college experiences with y’all! Let me know any posts you’d like to see from me in the comments below!

My Stack | Best Baubles for under $45

Posted in Fashion
on 08/12/2015

Due to the fact that I’m moving into my dorm this Saturday, I’ve been so busy this week with packing and running errands to get ready for my dorm. I’m so excited about school! Big changes are coming up. But, I regress. Now onto the post.

Baubles and Baubles and Baubles oh my! I recently ordered the Bauble Bar Cape Town Build Your Own Stack. There was a promo code which took 30% off my order, so each bracelet ended up being around $8. I would’ve been crazy to pass that up! I’m always looking for statement pieces to add to my collection. If you’re in the market for some high quality fashion jewelry, check out Bauble Bar!

Here’s a peek at my order.

Even as someone who loves to get dolled up, sometimes I like to throw on a tee and some shorts and call it a day. With this Louisiana weather, things heat up pretty quickly around here. This simple little outfit I put together is compiled from basics that all girls most likely have in their closets. Outfits like these are lifesavers when you’re out of things to wear (I often look at my closet full of clothes and say ‘I have nothing to wear…’).

I paired a simple back tee with my all time favorite pair of distressed high-waisted denim shorts from Articles of Society. Since I was running errands, I added my monogram necklace (simple, but it’s such a statement piece), my Jacks (because obviously…), and my Mini MAC (which is the best cross body bag I’ve ever owned!).

My formula for the perfect simple outfit:

Solid Tee + Denim + Accessories

On my radar

One // Bauble Bar Monogram Necklace

If you know me, you know I love a good monogram necklace. I’m currently wearing this one, but it’s showing some signs of wear and tear, so I’m thinking of getting a new one. This one would be a perfect option for me to dress down. I’m thinking of the tortoise or the tiger lilly color, but I’m not so sure which one I’ll get. If you sign up for Bauble Bar’s email’s, you’ll get a 20% off coupon- which I’ll def use on this!

Two // Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Damn. I had seen the movie twice, and then I decided to read the book. I’ll admit, it was a little slow starting off, but once Amy got to the point she started her present day diary entries- I was hooked. This book really makes you think- are the people you know authentic or are they just putting on a front? I loved the contrasting themes of Amy’s reality and Nick’s reality. Y’all do yourself a favor and check this book out! I’m giving it a 9/10 (only because of the slow start).

Three // “Settle Down” by the 1975

Ugh, I’ve been so into the 1975 lately! I love their sound and their songs are so freaking catchy! “Settle Down” is my current favorite.

Four // 48 Things Celebrities Wore 10 Years Ago That They Wouldn’t be Caught Dead in Now

 I saw this link on Facebook, so as usual I had to click on it. Little did I know I was in for a serious laugh. The article features stars like Brit Brit, Paris, Nicole Riche, and Kim K wearing hilarious getups such as silky dresses with thick belts, platform boots and tiny scarves.

Five // To-do Lists

To-do lists are my favorite way to get all my thoughts down. With the amount of stuff I’m doing this week, I’ve definitely got to write everything down! Plus it’s too fun to be able to check everything off after I’ve done it.

What’s on your radar? Tell me below in the comments!
