Well y’all I apologize for the lack of posts this past week. I could go on and on about how I was so busy blah, blah, blah, but I’m sure y’all don’t wanna hear it. In case you aren’t sure what’s going on in my life, here’s a quick recap: I moved into my freshman dorm at LSU last week. The day after I started a week of hell known as rush (it’s a HUGE deal here y’all). That next Saturday I got my bid and ran home. This week I started college classes, and I’m exhausted everyday because of how far I have to walk (6 miles on Tuesday and Thursday… no thanks). I figured I’d give y’all a little wrap up of how my first week as a college freshman is going right now!

Dorm Life //

Honestly I knew where I would be living this year was not the nicest, nor the cleanest but that the experience would be what sets it apart. I’m living in the only all girls hall on campus, which is so nice because of it’s location, but it’s aesthetic is just a no. My froomie and I have attempted to spice up our lovely cinderblock walls and tile floors, but we’ve still got a ways to go to make this place feel like home. (Pictures soon to come!) Using the hall bath is something I’ve gotten used to this past week, but I definitely miss being able to shower WITHOUT SHOES ON. Ah, it’s the simple things that can make me happy now.

Rush Week //

I had been told about rush week, but I never in a million years expected it to be what it was. You wait in line for your parties and all of the sudden the door swings open and 300 gorgeous faces are bouncing and clapping welcoming you into their home and sisterhood. It’s so hard to describe the whole process to someone who has not been through it. Throughout the week, I walked into houses I did not like/feel comfortable in and some houses where I felt safe and welcomed immediately. By preference round, I has three houses- two which I really liked and one which I was head over heels for. On Bid Day, my stomach was in knots, I felt like something was up. When I saw my bid, I was in shock. The house that I loved so much and had cried my eyes out to the night before was not listed. All of the other girls in my group, ran screaming and smiling to their new homes while I was standing there in shock. I talked to my Gamma Chi and she asked me if I’d be willing to try it out for today- I knew this was my one and only shot at Greek Life, so I agreed to. Although I don’t know many girls yet- I am positive I was put in that house for a reason. Although I did not get my first choice, I can say I ended up where I needed to be.

College Classes //

Enter broke college kid. People always joked about selling their organs to pay for textbooks and I used to laugh and think they were a little odd. But man, it’s crazy how much textbooks can really cost you. $500 later and I now know how it feels to watch an entire paycheck or two go out the window for some textbooks. Besides textbooks, my classes are fine. It’s different than high school and it honestly doesn’t even feel like I’m in school yet (I guess because I don’t have a lot of homework or anything yet). I’ll be posting some school organization stuff soon for y’all.

I’m so excited to share more college experiences with y’all! Let me know any posts you’d like to see from me in the comments below!
